Am I right in saying that a virtual MBG cannot be used as a SIP proxy?, has anyone verified this or got around it?
-
Hi, we are using vMBG as SIP proxy for SIP trunk without any issues.

Pretty sure the vMBG can be a SIP proxy it just needs to be attached to the DMZ as a standalone MBG would. Think the vMBG virtual machine could be assigned a NIC in VMWare so that it can be attached to the DMZ if the vMBG is only on the LAN then no it can't be a SIP proxy. From what I understand.

We have our vMBG server running on VMWare in Gateway mode and it works pretty well. The virtual machine has 2 LAN interfaces - one going to the Internet and the other going to the voice VLAN.
MBG status Enabled

Right the vMBG can be setup in server gateway mode i.e with two virtual NIC cards setup for the virtual machine or it can be setup in server only mode in the DMZ. Where a vMBG can't act as a SIP proxy is if it is part of a vMAS on the LAN.

LoopyLou vMAS in Network Edge Mode (server-gateway mode) is NOT supported.
I know it works but if you call in a ticket they will boot you.

Hi, I am new to Mitel and especially virtual machine. we are trying to setup a vMBG in vmware, have managed to deploy the OVA template. We are however failing to create the 2 virtual NIC in vmware so the vMBG can function in server/gateway mode. Anyone with steps on how to go about setting up vmware NIC cards on the virtual machine.

You got some bad techs then... I have several vMBG and vMiCollab servers running in gateway mode, never had a problem with support helping me.
