A customer opened a ticket with us today that said all there phone beeped 3 times at three different times and wants to know what might have caused that.
It almost sounds like an alarm to me but I would think that the operator console would show the alarm.
Any clue as to what this might be?

Do they beep when going off-hook, in a call, or just sitting there idle?
-
What I interpreted from what my customer told me was that all phones beeped at same time. I didn't ask the question to see if phones that were busy also beeped but I'd assume at least all the idle ones did.

I really have no idea... even an alarm would only show on phones with the Admin flag set. I guess I would pull the logs and see if it shows anything about the time of the beeps.

What would happen if a Call Park Expires?

The 5000 doesn't have Call Park... how are you doing Call Park? The typical way is to do a Transfer to Hold on a Phantom Extension, when the Transfer Recall (or Alternate Transfer Recall) Timer expires, the call is recalled to extension, which is typically system forwarded to a hunt group or the attendant, but it would ring, not just beep.

Sorry. Neophyte here on the 5k. That's how we're doing it. Calling the wrong thing.
Haven't had a chance to check logs yet. I'll do that within the next few minutes.

Here's what I have in the logs:
-01:756- > -01:740- 08:58 04-19 A010 ALARM '212' - Laura Is Off Hook
-01:756- > -01:741- 08:59 04-19 A000 ALARM Alarm Automatically Cleared
-01:756- > -01:742- 15:00 04-19 A010 ALARM '211' - Sherry Is Off Hook
-01:756- > -01:743- 15:01 04-19 A000 ALARM Alarm Automatically Cleared
-01:756- > -01:744- 15:50 04-19 A010 ALARM '209' - Lori Is Off Hook
This appears to correspond to what they were telling me: "Happened three times".
But why would it ring "all phones"?

Ralph,
Are those 3 phones close together? In a 5000, when a phone is "off-hook" for a long time, an alarm is raised and a very loud "beep" is played in the handset. I *think* that digital telephones beep is very much louder.
Do you think it could be an answer to this issue?
-
Possible I suppose. I called the customer and explained what I think I found and asked her to test. - ain't gonna happen.
But at least now I know.
In the flags, there was one that was set to "broadcast alarms to all attendants". I suspect that somehow rang the phone.
Not gonna worry about it at this point.
Thanks for everyone's input.

Alarms won't ring a phone, including off-hook alarms.

That makes it even more interesting. I've no clue what it was then.
