Title: Mitel 5330 speaker volume
Post by: ralph on March 01, 2013, 11:28:39 AM
Here's a new one for me.
Customer is in a factory environment.  Although they are in an enclosed office there is a lot of background noise.
Customer is using a 5300 phone.   When trying to use the speaker phone the phone can't turn up loud enough to hear the external caller.

(note: this isn't a duplexing issue.  The caller is heard but they want to make them louder.)

So my question is:  is there a way to add on an adapter to the 53xx phone to add an external sound system?  Or, is there another product that could be used to replace the phone.   I'm thinking a Polycom won't be loud enough either.

Conference unit in presenter mode? They are pretty loud when turned right up.

I'm not thinking the Mitel conf saucer is loud enough and they won't want to be in presenter mode.
I'm thinking some type of interface that would allow the speaker volume to play through a stereo system.

I'm guessing you could bodge something up, but supporting it if it breaks, or they want heaps of them might be a bit of a problem.

about the only thing I could think of would be a discrete mic glued to speaker and fed into the mic side of an amplifier or maybe a page system. So you feed the call to a pager which only operates in that room; wonder if you could get the valcom talkback speakers to work....?

You may want to try using a Viking M2W http://vikingelectronics.biz/products/pdf/m2w.pdf (http://vikingelectronics.biz/products/pdf/m2w.pdf)

This works great, we use them all the time. If it isn't loud enough you can move to a Valcom VP-324 and a V-1030C horn. The only bad part is it requires opening the phone and cutting the speaker leads, just cut of the speaker (leave enough wire to reconnect if needed later) then scotchlock a piece of jumper wire out of the phone, reassemble and use the jumper wire to feed any self-amplified speaker of the M2W.

Thank you!
That looks to be exactly what I'm looking for.
I was thinking the speaker may have been simply soldered directly to a board.
It's good to know I can break the speaker leads.

This is also a good solution for paging at a remote location that doesnt have a controller via Teleworker, just needs a donor 5212/5312 phone.
