I have a customer who had a 5550 die and I put a loaner in while theirs was repaired. Everything worked fine until I reinstalled their 5550. It keeps losing communication and causing the system to go into Night 1. It doesn't stay down long, looks like 12 seconds or so based on the logs. I get "The set is out of service due to loss of communication" then 12 seconds later I see "The set has been returned to service."
Any ideas other than sending it back to repair?

If you run a constant ping does it drop off at any stage?
Did they repair or replace the unit? If they replaced it then it may have old firmware on it and for some reason it isn't upgrading when first plugged in?
Also how is the PC connected to the console? All done via single cable or two?

I haven't ran a ping to the console yet.
I think they repaired the unit and not replaced it, I didn't pay attention to the MAC/Serial number.
There is a single patch cable from the wall to the keypad and then from the keypad to the PC.

The thing is I do not think they acutally repair your unit. Maybe they did. Anyway check the MAC of the unit matches the one programmed in your DHCP static settings.

Just found out yesterday that the tones and paging buttons don't seem to work either. I am trying to get a replacement from repair.
