We have a Mitel Standard Linux server that apparently has some corruption and the error I get is during boot...
Unexpected Inconsistency; Run fsck Manually
Checking File system. An Error Occurred during the file system check. Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot when you leave the shell. Give root password for maintenance or type Control D to continue.
It will not accept the password and when I CTRL D it just reboots. How can I get to a prompt to run fsck? Any help with this is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

it won't accept the root password?
you might have to re-install msl from CD and restore from backup if that is the case.
there also might be a way to boot into single user mode, but I don't know how to do that.
might not matter if the system is corrupt enough to not know the correct root password anymore...

^^^ Yup, reinstall and restore. That is about the only thing you can do now.

Yep from experience it is far quicker and far far far less painful to just re-install and restore than trying to fix these sorts of issues, especially if you try to get support from Mitel in the future and there are errors on the system. The first thing they will say is to backup and rebuild.
