Title: 5312/5324
Post by: Mattmayn on April 22, 2009, 08:56:22 AM
I thought that the reason Mitel EOLed the 5212/5224 and went to the 53xx versions was to allow them to use the same add on modules as the 5330 and 5340. Is this true or not?

The reason I ask is that I have a need to use the wireless module on a 5312 (physically impossible since it lacks the connectivity required). I also tried on a 5324 and the phone does not reconize the module. Am I missinformed on this or is there a min rev of the wireless module needed?

I think that I (and my boss) may be making this up since the wireless docs only mention the 5330 and 5340.

Ok, according to the product line manager at Mitel the 5324 will require a frimware upgrade for this to work. Good news is that they were able to give me a time frame on this; the bad news is that the time frame is 12- 13 months. The 5324 will never support the wirless handset (this would require a hardware redesign). The 5312 will never support either of the wireless devices.

I guess the model change was simply for marketing purposes as of right now.
