Title: Heartbeat Server
Post by: Mattmayn on November 30, 2012, 02:09:25 PM
I have a 3300 MXe III running MCD 5.0 SP2 PR2 that has phones losing connectivity several times a day. They look like they are going into failover mode (no second controller though) and then several minutes later they come back to life. I never lose connection to the ESM and it isn't always the same phones. The network is flat and there are only a small handfull of IP phones on site. Some of the phones are 5330s and others are 5224DMs.

Any ideas on this one? It just started happening the other morning out of the blue.

Here is a sample of one of the logs.

This is a Spectralink so it could be a power down or wireless range. I didn't think to look at the MAC before posting. I am concerned about the desk phones that are having problems.

We get this at one site where the network is really busy when doing backups (well when it starts them anyway).....So may be worth looking for network congestion?

i have had a similar situation, at times when there is heavy network congestion the phones lose registration, reboot or hang. we have two POE switches and found that the uplink cable was faulty. was a looong troubleshooting experience. but it was resolved.

Sometimes the most simple problems are the most difficult to find...  ;D
