Title: 3300 backups and maintenance commands

We used to automate all the backups via OpsMan. However this recently bit the dust and decided to flip us the grande finger. I'm aware I can manually run backups from the Maintenance section, but this is a task that I would like to automate instead of logging in to the unit to do single/network-wide backups.  Is this possible?

I've also been pouring over the Maintenance command list thoroughly. Is there some command that will shut down the trunk line(s) without causing any alerts or warnings?

We're running 4.1 SP2 and my research turns up that if we're on 5.0 this can be automated per controller. I'll need to seek from the provider to update our controllers.

You are correct.  The latest version of 3300 (5.0) will backup automatically to an FTP server on a scheduled basis.
4.x can't do that.

Make sure that the FTP server is a windows server. We spent a while trying to get ours to backup to a linux box before I read the help file.

I'm using a Linux server.   What's the help file say about it?

Not really sure why a Windows server would have to be used, FTP is a fairly industry standard protocol and should be irrelevant of the operating system. We have used both Windows and Linux servers without any issues as well.

The help file specificly states that it must be a Windows box. I don't remember what problem we had with it before we switched to another machine we already had running.

It will run on Linux. We have this setup and no issues.

Enterprise Manager 7.0 allows you to setup Network schedules. So you can schedule a MCD backup and it will setup all the system backups for you. MCD(s) will then FTP the files to Enterprise Manager which acts as the FTP server. And it stores all the files for you. It can also do this for call records and MCD audit trails.

You don't need Ent Manager just for scheduled backups though, as MCD 5 will schedule backups to an external FTP from within the system.

The only issue with a properly configured Linux FTP server I've seen is with 200 upgrades. It's because the upgrade file names are in either upper or lower case and the software requests the opposite.

Poor programming IMHO.
