Title: Caller ID with huntgruops
Post by: swilson on March 12, 2009, 10:34:25 AM
This can be confusing so I hope I explain this well.  We are having trouble getting caller ID to work for our sales group.  Any call to their prime extension(they have 2) is sent to a hunt group via always alternative routing.  The members of that hunt group reside on that same sales person's phones as key system keys.  With this setup we can't figure out how to get caller ID to display before they answer.  What we get now on the display is from ext(sales person ext) until they answer.  After pickup there is a 3 sec delay before the call ID is displayed.  We have the caller id working right for a normal phone is it just sales people that we can't get right.  Is it even possible to get this working pre-answer?

Try enabling the COS option "Display held call ID on transfer" this might do it.

Tried it on the phone and then assigned a class of service to the hunt group and tried it there too same results.  Forgot to mention if you call the hunt group directly it works.

What type of sets do you have? What rel. is the controller?

why don't you use system speed calls to the hunt group and change their prime numbers since they are being rerouted at all times? This should allow the CLID to be pasted along properly. I tested in my lab and it works fine on 5340's (two line display) but I have not been able to get the 5224 I have to work properly.

It makes sense to change the config since you are just rerouting their number back to them as a different number.

I wish we could, the problem is we do different things in Day mode and Night1 and Night2 with their routing.  The system has been highly customized to perform exactly how they want it and we can't' change anything without changing how they do business.

That's a slight problem.

Is the problem that when the call goes to the hunt group it displays "Forwarded From" as opposed to the CLID?

It says FROM "ext dialed" ( FROM 1080).

Unfortunatly, I don't think there is a way around that.  On a 2 line display, that's what it shows when a call is forwarded.
I've never found a work around.

Anyone else got any ideas?

The only thing I have found so far is if you are using a 5330 or 5340.  It still says from ext but the next line down will show the caller ID.

Try changing the hunt group type to nametag
