So, do we have an IRC channel people can go to? Is this something people are interested in?
For the less-savvy Internet user, IRC is Internet Relay Chat or more generally a real-time chat room that would (in this case) be dedicated for Mitel Forum users and Mitel topics where we could communicate and help people with issues in real time.
If people are interested in this, I could probably get it setup, there are IRC channels for all kinds of stuff, finding the hosting and getting it setup shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think MitelForums discussion would fit the terms for either of these hostings, as they are about free/open source software... right now I am looking at EFnet and sorcery.net, but the later is hosted in the EU and lag times can get rather significant at times (for me at least).
If anyone has a better idea for a free IRC channel hosting service, that is stable and reliable, please let me know and I will look into it.

You don't really pay for an IRC channel, you would pay for IRC server hosting, but I don't think it is really necessary... then again, I don't really know that much about it other than I am involved in several other channels for various things and it really helps a lot.

There is a chat module available for this forum maybe just install that and try it out here.

No... it is actually on my "to-do" list, but with the way things are right now it might be a couple weeks until I can get it all setup, work has been a killer recently with some really huge projects going on.

Guys, anyone can make a channel, register it with the chanserv, and you're off and running. I'll do this for you if you like, I spend a lot of time on OFTC and Freenode.

I will be honest, I am only vaguely familiar with the administration side of IRC and I have had little free time to investigate it. If someone is more familiar with the registering process, channel bots, chanserv, and keeping a channel from going opless, so if a known user knows a stable, long-term site and is willing to take on this task, with Ralph's OK, I am fine with it.

Joined.... here is my issue though, and one of the things I had trouble with, their TOS state specifically: "We are not a general purpose chat platform, but a topical network intent on providing the open source and free software communities a means to cooperate and communicate. As such, illegal and off-topic activity, such as warez trading, may result in being barred from access." Not sure our discussion area fits their TOS... :/

I like Xchat the best, but it's not free anymore... HydraIRC is pretty good and its the one I am using now, some (free, I am all about free) alternatives would be ThrashIRC, KVIrc, NetTalk, mIRC, or Quassel.

Not to my knowledge... We had this one for a while and it never got used by anyone, literally... kinda just faded away. Sorry.
