Has anyone see this error before when booting a phone off a known good data switch port?
"L2 Boot Incompatible"
The error comes up while booting, you can enter a PIN (new phone) but then get's hung at loading apps and never comes up.
It's not a TW phone. Other phones work fine off of same port.
New phone out of box.
3300 MXe ver 9
I assumed it needed a firmware upgrade but it didn't pull one when booting.
Setting the phone to default didn't resolve.

What model phone Ralph?

Do you have other phones of the same model working on this system, if so it sounds like either a DHCP error (or incompatibility in DHCP options with the current firmware in the phone) or a bad phone... Try putting it Teleworker Mode and see if it will force load firmware, sometimes I have seen this work. Weird that it gets to the PIN prompt, then fails after that, my money would be on a bad phone though.

Sorry. 5330
The first thing I tried was TW mode. No diff. Then defaulted. No diff.
Almost all their phones are 5330s.
I declared it a bad phone pretty early in the process but I could swear I've seen this before.
Didn't find anything of value on google so I thought I'd bounce it off the group.

I'd swear I'd seen it before too, and like Ace said, that it had to do with DHCP options....or if the phone has a new firmware with IPV6 stuff.... but I don't remember for sure anymore.

The other thing that just popped into my mind was a patch cord issue, either at the switch or phone end... pretty sure that is where I have seen this before!
-
Didn't think to verify the patch cord.
Thanks.

A new patch cord didn't make a difference.
Bad phone.

A long shot, but are you just using option 125? Try Option 128, 129, etc.
Can't see it being the problem, but just thought I'd put it out there.

It's gotta be a bad phone.
We had shipped several phones of the same model to the customer and this was the only one giving us grief.
Off the same data port other phones work just fine.

Hey Ralph, we had a 5330 the other day with the exact same issue. Would not boot off any port on CXi. It was replaced as a DOA in the end.
