Title: Basic VM on 5000 - Cutting of callers?
Post by: akuhn on June 05, 2012, 10:57:32 AM
Every once in a while, I get a complaint from Staff about how either they, or a caller to them, get cut off by our VM system when they are trying to leave a message.

We have the basic VM system integrated directly into the 5000 Chasis.

Sometimes, I wonder if this happens because the VM System thinks no one is on the other end of the line.  In other words, it's too quiet.

Any thoughts on how to address this issue?

Does it disconnect when leaving the message or when listening to the greeting?

A common complaint I hear on all VM systems is "I hear the greeting and then I get cut off."   What happens is when the greeting is recorded it sometimes saves snippets of DTMF that causes the VM to react when playing it.   The solution is to have the greeting re-recorded.

funny you should mention that.  Our receptionist just re-recorded our greeting the other day.  Perhaps some button sound got into the message.  I had to google DTMF to figure out what you were saying, but I'm interpreting that as the touch tone sound getting into the recording.

oops.  She said she never got around to re-recording.  But maybe she will now that I mentioned it to her.
