What steps are you doing to access it? Are you using a DID that points to the pilot number of the VM or are you calling your DID directly? Or some other method?

6000 is voicemail no. so whenever i dial 6000 from any extension it ask me mailbox no. then password..
when i try from outside i dial 3985-6000 it goes on ringing . it is not asking mailbox no. & password

i have just forwarded a extension no.  to 6000 so when ever  i dial from outside it is working now

in this case internal voice mail box has two no.
& external has one (Extension no.)

It sounds to me as if 6000 was never intended to be dialed externally.
Are you sure that number is in your DID range?
I'd bet that if you looked in your system speed dials you may find a different number pointing to 6000.  Try dialing those from the outside.

Oh, by the way, what type of voice mail are you using?
