Title: Mitel MAS/NuPoint backups
Post by: ralph on January 06, 2012, 02:40:27 PM
If you browse to a MAS server and backup it up from the SME server interface, does that backup all the configs of the NuPoint also or do I need to telnet to the NuPoint to backit up from the Telnet interfaces.

From the browser it creates a file called smeserver.tgz.   Does this contain all the config information for the NuPoint, AWC, Mobility, etc?

Yes, it will do. Doing a backup from any MSL OS, will also backup the application blade configuration that is installed.

Does it backup the voice mail messages, greetings, etc or just the config info?

I have been told by Mitel design that it will do.

If it backs up VM messages then I have a problem.
Due to HIPPA laws, (and storage space concerns) I can't backup messages and store on our DR backup systems.
Mitel will need to provide a tic box to disable that.

That's a problem.
I'm going to have to submit a DCR on that one.   We need to have a choice of if we backup messages or not.
The one with messages can be kept on site and secure, the one without message can be stored at a 3rd party location without fear of violating any laws.
