Title: Android App - First thoughts
Post by: akuhn on November 22, 2011, 04:29:33 PM
Loaded the Android UCA app.

It drained my battery in 4 hours.  There was no way to exit the app.  It starts on bootup and runs until your phone dies.

Uninstalled it.  Back to normal.

Anyone else play with it?

We haven't got the licences for everyone to run it yet, but we have had a customer using it and they love it. Haven't complained of battery drain though, and they have been running it for a few months now, so would have heard about it by now.

It does the same thing on iPhone if you enable the location services to change your status based off of your GPS. I couldn't get that part to do anything on my phone, other than drain my battery that is.

Has anyone else been able to use this feature?

I reinstalled the Android app and turned off location services.  It helped....a little, but still took a hit on Battery.  And of course, there is no way to exit the darn app.  Once it's installed, it's on all the time.  So for the Android, I see it as a install/uninstall as needed.

This could be better.

Advanced Task killer seems to kill it pretty dead.

I tried that.  But, I just rooted my phone and installed CyanogenMod over Winter Break, so I might try again under a different set of circumstances.

Thanks.
