Hello,
I recently came across this issue with one of my co-workers were they are not able to answer an outside phone caller with the handset.
When a call comes in, they pick up the phone via the handset and have to press the line 1 button to answer.
Is this a configuration thing, or some kind of glich? I looked around a little and download 4 version of the Mitel user guide (http://www.mitelforums.com/mitel-user-guides/index.php) and have not found any solution. :-\
;DThank you for your help!! :D

Sounds like the Ringing Line Select option in the COS of your phone. if you enable this option you can answer all lines by simply lifting the handset.

I think Dutch_tuga nailed this. Also, while Mitel handsets are very reliable, the failure I see most often is the switcthook not working anymore.

How do you go about enabling the Ringing Line Select option, and how would some disable it?

I suspect you have the Headset feature activated.
Log into your pbx, go to maintenance commands and enter "loc fe extn <ext of phone>"
I bet it shows the headset feature active.
Next go to your feature access codes and look up what code you use to turn it off.
Dial that code on the phone.
Next send pizza and beer.

In the latest e-mail from Mitel they were bragging about 7% quarter after quarter increases in 5000 sales. Also our rep keeps pushing us to start selling them. I don't think Mitel wants the 5000 to die......it doesn't fit for our business but must be an OK system....

Go to db programming then, System/Phone Related Info/flags and look at Automatic Answer CO. Make sure the ext in question is in there. If they are not this is your problem
