Title: Locking down SIP Trunks for Incomming calls
Post by: marcrp on February 09, 2011, 10:08:09 AM
Hi,

We have a SIP trunk between 2 companies. Our switch is a Mitel 3300 and theres is a 3COM switch.

I want to make sure that the site with the 3COM switch can't dial anything outside our internal extension range (3xxx).

The SIP trunks are set to COR 64 which is a blank COR.

I don't want them using our SIP trunks to dial into our switch and then back out making external calls at our cost!

Thanks

Probably the easiest thing to do is go to the "maximum digits dialed" form and set COR 64 to only be able to dial 4 digits.

You could also set up a unique interconnect number for the SIP trunks and block them from any other trunk.

Also, in you ARS Routes, be sure that any referenced COR restricts COR 64.

Hopefully that helps.

Thanks, mopst helpful.

All our ARS routes use COR 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Each of these COR groups has 64 so I guess this would restrict the SIP trunks from dialing any of the routes.

The max dialed digits also sounds good.

Many thanks.

You could give your phone the same class of service and restriction as the trunks and try and make calls to see if youre restrictions work
