Title: New Phones
Post by: bilbotel on March 06, 2023, 05:39:59 PM
Would the 6920 be much of an upgrade to our 5224's?
I note the 53x are more expensive than the 69x, why is this as the 69x look more modern?

Other than it has less buttons, the 6920 is an upgrade in almost every way from the 5224 phones... It has a color display, gigabit ethernet, and supports Bluetooth. It is also a currently supported device, whereas the 53xx series phones have been manufacturer discontinued.

The 53xx phones are more expensive because there is a large base of phone systems out there that cannot use the 69xx series phones and they are have been discontinued for a while and are getting harder to find.

Am I good to go on the 6920 with 3300 v 8.0 sp2?

As long as it's MiVoice Business 8 and not ICP 8, you should have support. I would get to the highest 8.0 SP3 PR3 if possible. Will need qualified hardware i.e controller type, hard drive size and 1GB ram to go further. I might also be tempted to put the latest 6900W and 6900 firmware on the system

I don't have any W's yet - the firmware for those are different than base model 6900's?

What exactly is pclink and how can that benefit me? Mitel description is a bit vauge but from what I can gather all it does is allow my pc to see the phone as a bluetooth audio device so I can then use the headphones connected to the phone for teams calls on my computer for example? Does it enable you to make an receive calls on our computer or work the other way around so the phone is using your pc plugged in headset? Also can you plug poly usb headsets into the phone?

Also, can anyone recommend a device for a small meeting/huddle room that can be used for both mitel landline calls and could also be hooked up to a pc for teams calls?
