Title: Where to change voicemail message for VM Ports?
Post by: rabber22 on October 16, 2022, 03:05:15 AM
Hi All,

I've done a trace on our main number and basically during the day it goes to a ring group (easy enough). We then have night switch 1 from 5pm to 6pm and night switch 2 from 6pm onward.

Now night switch 1 and night switch 2 seem to land on the same hunt group that has 8 VM ports added to it. When i call the main number i get a different messages for night switch 1 and 2 even though it lands on the same hunt group and VM ports. There's also two VM multi-level auto attendants but changing those options is simple.

My question is - we need to update the current two voicemails with a new, updated messages - how is this done?

My followup question for my own knowledge - how do you have two different voicemail messages when both night switch 1 and 2 land on the same hunt group with the same VM ports?

Currently looks something like the below:

3100 > 3988

3988 >  day route 5 > 3195 reception ring group
             night 1 route 8 >     *3989 > 3199
                                                                    >hunt group 'Voicemail' - members: VM ports 9001-9008
              night 2 route 7 >    *3988 > 3199

VM multi-level auto attendants: 3989, 3988

Thanks.

Don't know for sure, but I suspect that it just may be your main greetings.  Log into the admin mailbox and check.

Your VM ports only point to VM so multiple calls can access the system at the same time. So at any given time 8 callers can be simultaneously sent to voicemail in your set up.

Since Night1 and Night2 point to different extensions/mailboxes  it's probably pointing to the *3989 mailbox and *3988 mailbox to get your different messages at those times.
