Title: Mitel 5000 Voicemail to Email issue

We just had the Mitel 5000 installed last week, set up the voicemail to email feature but it does not work every time. it will work most of the time and then randomly choose to send via Mailer-Daemon@Mitel5000 and fail.

Checked through the logs and found that the system is trying to send from mailer-daemon@mitel5000 when it fails. We have been unable to locate where this is entered in the system to correct it.

voicemail@mijs.com R=smarthost T=remote_smtp: SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data: host LYH-efz.ms-acdc.office.com [52.96.122.82]: 554 5.2.252 SendAsDenied; voicemail@mijs.com not allowed to send as Mailer-Daemon@Mitel5000; STOREDRV.Submission.Exception:SendAsDeniedException.MapiExceptionSendAsDenied; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message Cannot submit message.

Software Version 6.3 SP5 (Release 108)

No relay set up, set to work directly with smtp.office365.com through port 587.

This is a mail server issue, not a Mitel issue... Verify the attachment size is large enough in the Outlook Admin portal.

Attachment size limit is set to 153600 kb.

Fair... It is a common one I have seen in the past...

The main point of failure is here, a message from Outlook server:

554 5.2.252 SendAsDenied

This is a message from the server... Make sure login credentials used match the from email address.

Exactly, it seems to be trying to send as "Mailer-Daemon@Mitel5000" when it should be sending as voicemail@mijs.com but I have been unable to figure out why its trying to send as that.

MIJS,

Go to System > IP Settings > DNS Searchlist: change it to mijs.com as it is probably blank.

For some reason most vendors do not change this and I am not sure as to why.

Next, go to System > E-Mail Gateway

Verify that the following:
Administrator E-Mail: voicemail@mijs.com
E-Mail Address: voicemail@mijs.com
E-Mail Real Name: Voice Mail
E-Mail Username: voicemail@mijs.com
Gateway Password: verify that it is the correct password for voicemail@mijs.com

We ended up setting up a relay which took care of the issue, i will keep your info to try out if we ever need to switch back.
