Title: Only allow extension to be called from specific line?
Post by: kylewhite on September 21, 2021, 01:11:07 PM
Hey there,

We integrated a global announcement system with a SIP extension number, now we want to restrict this. We want this extension only to be allowed to be dialed from a specific extension or two. Any ideas? THanks in advanced!

Open the embedded help, and to go System Features, Features H to L, and look at Interconnect Restrictions... Should be exactly what you need.

Basically, put the phones you want to call the paging interface in one Interconnect group (2) and the SIP paging in a different one (3), then use the Interconnect Restriction table to allow 1 to talk to 1 and 2, and nothing else. Set 2 to be able to communicate with 1, 2, and 3. Set 3 to be able to communicate with 2 and 3.

By default all devices are in 1.

Not very effective for this application... Interconnect Restrictions are more setup for this. Tenanting is more if you have unique businesses or divisions within an organization, allowing for unique attendants, night service modes, MOH, unique call routing, etc. It could probably work, but is way more difficult than using Interconnect restrictions.
