We setup a sip trunk through a MBG to a 3300. Everything works, but all incoming calls use double the licenses. Eg, one incoming calls shows 2 licenses used. Mitel says the reason is the the SIP provider is sending the option supporting FAX on the sip trunk, so the MBG is using a sip license for voice and one for fax, even if its just a voice call.
Anyone know how to stop it?

Mitel tech support said that?
That's the first I've heard of that one.
I'd be interested to know if anyone else has seen that.
I'm assuming you're not using faxes. Can the carrier turn off T.38?

Honestly, sounds like a cop out answer... I have never heard that one...
Tech support at Mitel isn't what it used to be, that's for sure.

The fax can't be turned off. Its a system wide settings on the sip provider side. On our side, they might do faxing, but right now just voice calls.

I wonder if multiple m lines might be involved here

Tried altering the m-lines, but same problem

It is multiple m-lines, but Mitel says the MBG, since its a proxy, can't change the option and will always use the extra license.
Guess I will have to find a different proxy.

Just wanted to add that i have heard that, fax will use another SIP licnese, from Mitel before
