Embedded mail will only answer when a user dials the mail to get into their own mailbox. Extensions that should go to mail on a no answer just keep ringing, the auto attendant is not answering on inbound calls.
I checked the sets and they are set to reroute on the 1st alt, also the Auto Attendant is a DID with a analog set rerouted always to mail.
Also If I point the DID to be answered by an IP set the set doesn't ring.
The system is a CXII, I think it may be a defective DSP Module but am not sure.

So if you dial the VM hunt group, it doesn't answer? Have you gone into maintenance and just stated the ports or gone into the RTC shell and stopped/started the VM services (or just rebooted)?

The ports answer if you dial the mail, it won't answer when a extension is rerouted to mail from 1st alt or always. Also a DID call to an IP set doesn't answer.
The ports are idle, we have rebooted and stopped and started the Vmail

I'm not saying it's this, but the only time I've had these symptoms, we attempted to cure it with a reboot and it didn't come back as the hard drive was dead.

I am trying to think, would Interconnect Restriction prevent this? What happens if another admin user calls the extension and is transferred to voicemail. It almost seems the way you describe it that outside callers can't reach the VM hunt group.
