Title: Splitting a digital port into 2 analogue channels

A customer has run out of analogue ports -
we have a t1/e1 card, ddm16 card, and 2 single line cards already installed in the Mitvoice250.
With the internal 4 single lines we have therefore only have 12 single lines for analogue devices but the customer needs 14.

I have heard that its possible to split one digital channel from the DDM card to create 2 analogue lines. Does anyone know about this, what equipment is needed and maybe has a link to paperwork on how to set it up?

Rick,

You would need to find an old Inter-Tel SLA [Single Line Adapter: Part#: 550.2500] to change a Digital Port in to two Analog Ports. I don't think that Mitel ever sold those after they bought out Inter-Tel, but you never know.

IF you can get a hold of one then here is the high-level process you would go through.

1. Go to System > Controller > DKSC16 or DDM16: Change an unused port to a Dual Analog port.
2. Cross Connect the Digital Port to the Digital Port input on the SLA.
3. Cross Connect the Analog Ports on the SLA to analog devices.

Is that a Dual T1 card? You could connect an Adtran 624 and get 24 analog ports.

Refurbished units are out there, and they’re more reliable than the old SLAs.
