Title: Looking for a SBC supported by both Mitel and Microsoft
Post by: handwritten on October 21, 2020, 03:19:46 PM
We have a 3300 (with backup VMBG) plus two MBGs for SIP trunking. We have about 600 users. We are interested in using Microsoft's Direct Routing for Teams users. This requires an SBC.  Unfortunately, Mitel's MBG is not listed.  Here's the list of compatible SBCs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/direct-routing-border-controllers . Mitel has their own list of supported SBCs in the 'Interop Reference Guide' but none of those platforms are also on Microsoft's list.

Perhaps I don't fully understand what the SBC is doing in the Direct Routing environment - it seems like that role could be filled by the MBG.

Has anyone implemented Direct Routing with a Mitel environment?  What SBC did you use?

Thanks in advance!

Any of the AudioCodes Mediant devices play nicely with Mitel systems.. The others probably do as well, but I have not used them. Mitel has interops on their knowledge base for them.

2nding the recommendations of Audiocodes. They're super flexible, which also means there's a bit of a learning curve to them.

When I read to doc about audio code, it seem that it need sip trunk connect to it.

Can we integrate Team with MiVB without sip trunk connect to the audio code?

Teams is a trunk to the Mitel... What else would it be to the phone system?

I can't seem to find any applicable interop documentation. I keep finding Shoretel docs, weirdly.

acejavelin, if you could point to the specific doc you're referring to, that would be very helpful!
