We have the Mitel MiVoice Office 250 v. 6.1.25.0
the Oaisys Mitel recording server 8.1.1412
the MiVoice Border Gateway 9.2.0.23
Mitel never implemented recording calls from remote handsets when they installed the system, but we need to record and audit calls now.
is recording supported on remote handsets?
can the desktop client pause recording on remote handset where workers are on a remote desktop server?
thanks in advance

Hello lordheetsink,
The Oaisys system will record generally one of two ways. Via RTP/RTSP packets across the network or via your phone lines (T1/PRI). If recording is not working for remote phones this will likely be recorded for specific programmed extensions via RTP/RTSP Packets. The only way to make remote phones record remotely is if the phone is on a VPN instead of connecting through the MBG. The Oaisys cannot see the phones locally and cannot record the RTP/RTSP audio packets.
You should however be able to use the Record a call feature of the phone system. This isn't as efficient as the Oaisys but should be a cheap/free way to adhere to your audit requirements.

Thanks Travis,
what is the Record of a call? is it audio? is it recorded elsewhere than Oaisys
best regards,

You can daisychain MBG>SRC to effect recording of remote handsets...with MiVoice Business + MiVCR anyway. Just looking over the engineering guide for MiVCR 9.1 [what I happen to have at hand] there is no mention at all of MiVO250. Not a particularly helpful post, I'll admit...

how about port mirroring?
we use a PRI.
-
In Oaisys Call Recording Admin, under Recording Manager, Recording Port Settings, are you using Network Voip or SRC?
-
The VOIP Settings Network VoIP tab reads Network VoIP Tap Info > VoIP Tap Adapter "Mitel5000Monitor> (Intel 82579LM Network Connection).
The Mitel SRC tab is not configured. there are no IP's listed.

working with a remote tech, we think that by adding a third NIC to the Oaisys recording server, and configuring the switch that the Mitel Border Gateway to mirror its WAN port to another port that connects to that new third NIC, we should be able to capture that audio traffic.
I appreciate all the feedback in the dark art. if you see a problem with this proposal, I would be grateful for your input.
