We made some moves recently and had one hotdesk user that would show offline no matter what we did. We tried everything and finally tried to delete her phone and rebuild it. Now it won't let us use her username, says it already exists. We added a 1 to her username to get her by for now, but we can't change her username to the one in AD and therefore can't sync her profile with AD.
The error every time is that a DN with that username already exists, but we deleted the old phone/account out. Is there some hidden database we can purge her old account from?

If you're syncing with AD, then all changes have to come from AD, it's a one-way data flow.

We had unchecked sync with IDS to make changes, but we can't even sync or add this user from AD now. Her login ID is being used somewhere hidden, but we can't find it.

check in system options user profiles
Not sure they are exact words for the forms. Its the place where you would add a new user to login to the 3300.
If the user exists in there you can delete her

I've seen thing hang in the multi line set form even with users and services phones being deleted

try the command : locate number .....
Then Gdm user and services ...
Gdm repair ...
