We have a newly installed MiVoice Business device. With our previous system (Inter-tel PRI) we could make internal intercom calls to users and the user on the other end did not have to press a button to answer the intercom call. The person making the intercom call would simply be live and could begin speaking after a short tone.
Our Inter-tel system was over 20 years old.
We are told that the "handsfree" intercom feature is not supported with the new MiVoice Business. Is that correct? If it is not correct, has the name of this feature changed?

Feature Access Code 'Direct Voice Call' will do what you want. Need to make sure it's allowed via Class of Service. Won't be as clean as it was before but it does the same thing. Can program a speed dial with FAC+Ext for one touches but can't have a key that shows presence do that same sort of thing. At on site we made it a single digit FAC (4) and gave everyone the usual DSS keys and then if they want to voice call as opposed to ring they hit 4 then the key.

Thank you, NEPhoneGuy.
How about on the end of the person receiving the intercom call? Is there a "handsfree" option that makes it so they dont have to pick up the handset or press the speakerphone button in order for the call to be answered?

The direct voice call feature when used to call the far end, the far end receives audio through the speaker and the mic is opened for reply
