Title: Copy greeting from one mailbox to another
Post by: josh_marchant on March 06, 2019, 10:05:51 AM
I'm trying to set up separate voice mailboxes for different phone numbers and want them all to use the same greeting. Rather than having someone re-record the same greeting for each mailbox, is there a way I can copy it from one mailbox to another either with MiVoice Office 250 or on the phones themselves?

Any help would be appreciated :)

josh_marchant,

The way we did it is with a device that allows us to hook up to the handset and to our laptop then use Audacity to play the file for each mailbox.

There is another way, but it isn't supported by Mitel or anyone for that matter
Create a basic prompt for each mailbox
Download all of the mailboxes and their prompts that you are working with
Open the compressed file and then copy the known prompt to the other mailboxes
compress the file again and upload the mailboxes back in

Thanks,

TE

That sounds like it could work. Would you be able to give a bit more information about how to download these files? I am not that experiences with the Mitel system and only have experience using MiVoice to make changes.

Thanks :)

josh_marchant,

Are you not a certified technician? You can really mess up your mailboxes if something goes wrong with your compression or you copy the wrong files.

Go to Operations > Voice Processor Operations > Voice Processor Save
Select Mailboxes
Check all 4 boxes
Select the Mailboxes you are working with
Finish

Open the file that gets downloaded from the MiVO-250; it is a compressed file.
Look for your mailbox folders
copy the audio files from the one you actually want and replace the files you don't want to keep. DO NOT REPLACE THE FOLDER ONLY THE AUDIO FILES IN THEM.
compress the file back up again; change the file extension if need be.

Go to Operations > Voice Processor Operations > Voice Processor Restore
Select Mailboxes
Select the Mailboxes you are working with
Finish

Test.

Thanks,

TE

P.S. I would only do this as a last resort and probably not even then, but I do know it works as I used to do this back in the Axxess early CS-5000 days.

Perfect, thank you. It's good to know this is possible even as a last resort.

Even if I don't end up using this I'd like to be able to get the compressed file and see the file layout etc. When I click finish to save the compressed files, I get a warning saying "All data in the voice processor save directory and any subdirectories will be deleted. Continue?". I just want to make sure this is the location I chose to save the compressed the files to and not something important on the actual Mitel system?

Thank you for your help

josh_marchant,

There is only one location you can send the files to and that is a USB drive plugged into the MiVO-250; which is the U: drive.

The other option is to save everything [database, voice processor, etc..] to your laptop, but that would not be a good idea.

Thanks,

TE

This is not the type of information that should be shared in an open forum. It is well beyond what end-users should be doing, and the potential for harm is great.

It seems like there has to be a safer and easier way to do this. Is there nothing else?

josh_marchant,

Have you tried to use the Copy function from one mailbox to another? Right-Click on the mailbox with the greeting you want and select Copy and then Right-Click on the mailboxes you want the greeting on and select paste; Uncheck all the boxes except the one for Greetings unless there are other things you want to copy from one mailbox to the other.

One of the things could be Greetings, but I haven't looked at that in years since most customers have custom greetings on each one.

Thanks,

TE

P.S. I just looked at a blank database and created two mailboxes and I found it in there; why didn't I try that first?
