Title: Need help - Time Controlled Function
Post by: Labroy74 on October 21, 2018, 10:03:56 AM
Hi all,

I have programmed AA on a system that currently does not have day/night during hours after hours functions.  I have had a long hard look at it and I am assuming that I am missing a piece of programming as I was unsuccessful in making the system change between modes. Can you please provide complete programming steps to change between day and night programming?

Here's a simple example:

ID   Name            Function   Repeated   Start day   Stop day   Execution date and time    Switch group
1   Day Mon-Fri     *85011    Enabled     Monday     Friday        08:30                               20
2   Night Mon-Fri   *85012    Enabled     Monday     Friday        17:30                               20

I can follow that bit easy enough, but what is the bit that decides where the phones ring? Is it just a switch position? I am going to run 24x7 AA except for Saturday morning, when I need the phones to just ring as they are at the moment. I can provide screenshots if you tell me what to get. I currently have the AA assigned on one trunk only for testing, but it is the same in Switch Position 1, 2, 3. I was assuming that the time control feature needs to change the switch position. Then there seems to be a permission set, which I may have worked out

Yes the time controlled function in the example is for switch positions.

So you need to have the CDE ring the AA at Switch Position 1 and your alternate destination at Position 2. Change your execution times to suit.

Is there a way to tell online what Switch Position the system is currently in?

Configuration>Routing>Graphical View>Switch Group

Ok, I'm guessing that R3.0 doesn't do that. I've found a lot of things that it doesn't have! Can anyone add a link on how to upgrade system. The licences are up to date.

So you are using AMS?

You can go to 3.1.7 in configuration manager to see the switch groups.

Yes,  I am using AMS for this system. I noticed that SW Grp 1 has changed from what I saw earlier. Still can't quite work out the correlation between the position, group and day night. What it seems, is there a 3 switch positions for each CDE, but I am unsure how that changes to switch group. I may have to admit defeat on this system! I haven't done a leader-led course, so Support doesn't want to know about it - even though we have quite a few of these systems installed and the qualified tech has left the company

I hope you at least have the system documents even for R3.0. They will greatly help.

Re: your question on upgrading, the release notes for the new release usually have the hints and will state pre-requisites. One thing to note, when upgrading to a newer release (not HF or SP) you will need a license for that release.

I have a Band Aid solution at the moment. It involves me changing the programming manually at the designated times at the moment. I am booked to do my course in February

Depends how Mitel want to be but if you're booked into the course a lot of times they will help you as they know you will get certified.

2   Night Mon-Fri   *85012    Enabled     Monday     Friday        17:30                               20

Ok, I have done this, and the switch group changes from pos 1 to pos 2 at 17:30, but not back to pos 1 the next day?

It depends on which day you are talking about. It should switch during weekdays and be at position 2 from Friday but not back to SW pos. 1 on Saturday and Sunday in this example. It will switch to position 1 again on Monday.

Tried this just now, went from 1 to 2, but not back?

Sorry, that came out wrong. At 12:40 the call server was in pos 1, and i programmed this:

ID   Name   Function   Repeated   Start day   Stop day   Execution date and time Switch group
1   Dag           *85011   Enabled   Monday   Friday   12:42                       1
2   Kveld   *85012   Enabled   Monday   Friday   12:41                       1

The server went from pos 1 to pos to 2 at 12:41, but not back at 12:42, am I still fooling around here?

That should work.

How do you check that it does not switch back?

I have programmed switch pos 2 function on my 6940 that goes red when in pos 2.
Also checking config -> routing -> graphical view -> switch group

Remove or change the switchgroup assignment to a higher number.  You allocated them to Switch Group 1.
