Title: Remote 5300 IP Phones on 6.2 software?
Post by: BlackSunshine on October 08, 2018, 03:41:00 PM
Has anyone connected remote 5330 phones to a Mitel 250 6.2 without a MBG?  If so what is needed?  I have a static real world IP address NAT'ed to controller

Plenty, although I generally won't do more than 8 without a Teleworker or a dedicated connection (just my general rule to tell salespeople)... the software version really isn't important as long as the phone is supported in that release. Just forward the ports, put the phone in Teleworker mode and point it at the static IP, and set the device to NAT mode in programming.

I don't have the ports in front of me, but there have been several question here detailing the answer, or the specific ports are in the manuals under "IP Port Usage"

I have done lots of them. As long as the ports are open there is no issue.

I have attached a quick summery one of our techs put together.

BlackSunshine,

You will need to make sure the Public IP is put into the system correctly AND if you have a PEC then you will need 2 Public IP addresses not just 1. Other that that you will need to set the Teleworker phone to use NAT instead of Native.

As for the firewall you will just need to open the ports according to the picture that Magnus posted earlier and point the Public IP addresses to the correct LAN IP address of the system.

Thanks,

TE

Will the phones work on the outside if the Mitel 250 is not giving out dhcp addresses.  I have it in static mode and the internal phones in static mode

Yes it will be fine, when the phone is placed in Teleworker mode it will get a DHCP from a standard DHCP server. You just enter the 250 address (public address if remote)

I have done this in the past previous to the Mitel 250 having a built in DHCP server. Place the phones into Teleworker, set the controller address and away you go.

No, the second one (in IP Settings) is only for NAT traversal SIP trunks, the one in IP Connections/P6XXX is the one used by phones. That said, I always set them both.
