Title: extention can't hang up

I have an extension that is stuck in the "connecting" mode. I. E. when you pick up the receiver you hear scratchy noise then remote ringing as if you had dialed a number.  I have changed handsets, plugged in at the switch with all downstream wiring disconnected, changed the extention number.  I still get the same result.  I have looked at LOCATE FEATURES EXTENTION xxxx and nothing is listed.
Any further ideas would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you.

Check the Associated Directory Number form and see if it's programmed as a "Hot Line"

You didn't say what version of software you're using or what type of phone.  If it's a TDM phone, move it to a new port on the PBX>
