Title: Faulty ethernet ports
Post by: Sube100 on May 22, 2018, 05:26:29 AM
Hi all,

If i can't ping/logon to an Mxe via IP address, can I just replace the Ethernet ports/card, or is it a whole chassis swap out?

Thanks in advance

Assuming that that is the issue, it's a whole chassis swap... Get a spare chassis, swap over all modules, hard drive, and SYSID chip and you should be back in business. Remember that the IP address settings are NOT stored on the hard disk, you will need to set that manually.

Nice one, thanks ace.

Hypothetically speaking, when i get this all swapped out, can I buy the parts for the failed ethernet ports?! Or is that just going to be a waste of time

Unless you plan on troubleshooting board level components, it's a waste of time.

Is it possible that the vlan tagging is enabled on the controller?

Try connecting a serial cable and tying vlan_off and see if you can ping the controller.
