My customer wants to have a horn connected to an extension in the mechanic shop. IE they want to know when the phone is ringing while they are using powertools.
Do you have any recommendation of what is required to make this happen?

Add an analog loud ringer and twin it to the keyset.

magnus,
Well a recommendation of what would be required is to use an external ringer. The ringer can be either Analog or SIP, whichever is most convenient to you; I prefer Analog myself. Then it depends on your software version on how you proceed, but for the most part you will setup the phone as a User to use Dynamic Extension. The new Analog or SIP device would be a secondary phone set to ring when the desk phone does.
Thanks,
TE

They are running version 6.2
Is there a particular brand that works well?

Quick and dirty method works too... Open the phone, half-tap off the speaker leader with jumper wire and feed the jumper out of the phone. Take that to the audio of a Valcom self-amplified speaker and use a 24V power supply. Voids the warranty of the phone but it also works for paging.

An old Axxess 550.4500 keyset would do the trick, available online for less than 50 bucks.

DND ON,
You know I always think that way myself, but with the requirement of having a digital card AND Cat E licensing that may or may not be a solution for some customers.
Thanks,
