Title: Locating Phantom Extensions
Post by: nMitel on September 19, 2017, 02:05:06 PM
Hi,

I have a phantom extension 325 that I'm trying to make it a real extension and assign it to replace real extension 351 but I'm not able to locate that extension in "User and Device Configuration". However, I can find it under "Call Rerouting" which I don't want to change. any idea where I can find this phantom extension and how it was originally created.

Thanks

Possibly a ring group or a hunt group?

mmmm it would make sense to be in ring group, I found it under "Group Programming" " Remote Busy Lamp" I believe that where it was originally created it.

I still can not delete it from there, if I try to assign ext325 it says " the directory number already exists" any idea where it could be buried in the system?

Is this a networked system?

In the maintenance commands try "LOCATE NUMBER 325"

It could just be a line appearance on another phone.

yes, it is a networked system when I did Locate Extension 325 it said: "LOCATE: Non prime extension number."
I know this is a line appearance on 7 phones when we transfer to phantom ext 325 (from the IVR) it rings 6 phones that has Multicall lines on them, do you think removing this key form those 7 phones will allow me to reuse it?

Yes removing the key programming will free up the DN to be used as an extension.

Just make sure you don't break other things when you delete it. i.e. associated voicemail box etc...

The one that always gets me is having it still have a value in the Telephone Directory as well. After you remove the key system appearances, if you still get an error I would check there.

It worked! I removed al the key appearances and was able to use it again.

Thank you.
