Title: "muffled/hollow" sound on sets at remote site.
Post by: brooksrose on June 22, 2011, 09:00:56 AM
Im having an audio issue in which the customer's set produces a "muffled/hollow" sound. Its at a remote site that has a CXiII controller. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

are you using compression between the sites?

Yes I believe so. I have the standard 8 compression licenses. It seems to be happening intermitently on both incoming and outgoing calls. I've got a DSP status minor alarm on my 3 other remote CXiII's as well but none of them are having this voice quality issue. I'm not too sure on where to go from here?

Well I would imagne the DSP alarm is because you have added compression licenses without adding additional DSP.

With regards to the fault, when is this experienced? when calling over IP trunks across a network or out onto the public network?

Its external calls only, both incoming and outgoing and it happens on almost every call. I've noticed that the 8 compression licenses are purchased but not in use. I'm leaning more towards a PRI problem, as this is the only site reporting a voice quality issue.
