TE,

Thanks for the kind words.  I am looking forward to retirement.  Last day is the 17th!  Best wishes to everyone who is still plugging away installing and dealing with phone permissions.  Take care, hope the years are good to everyone.

I should also say, paging is working using the solution you suggested.  I just measured the approximate distance we have from the node to the paging system and found it's 1354 feet.  Even after realizing using a trunk port is different than sending line level audio across the wires, I am still pleasantly surprised it works.  Thanks for suggesting the solution--you gave me the encouragement to try it!

Wouldn't it be nice to have a way to track how a call routes through the AA!??!!

When you say it's a Hunt Group, I am confused.  Hunt Groups only ring to a phone or group of phones.  It sounds like the call is routing to a CRA, since you have prompts and options.

To make a Hunt Group ring at more than one extension, I create an Hunt Group extension List, and include all the numbers I want it to ring at the same time.  I don't know if that's the best way, it's just the way I learned to ring more than one extension for a Hunt Group.

If the call is routed to a CRA, there could be timing issues in the CRA configuration.  If it is a CRA, I might be able to help with the timing issues.

Thanks,
Jeff

We have purchased a few more licenses before end of license sales.  Our vendor says Mitel said the IP Networking license (840.0224) license isn't available for sale now, we were considering buying one or two to take the nodes from 6 to unlimited concurrent calls.

Mitel said end of license sales would be end of June as I recall.  It's hard to understand why Mitel isn't willing to sell licenses, given they don't have to manufacture a license and it REALLY ticks me off they said end of license sales at the end of June, now they won't sell this license.

If someone has a node they have retired, can we transfer the license from that node to our node?  I don't know how license transfers work...is it possible to transfer from one company to another?  If we buy an node from someone and they transfer ownership, does the node come with the licenses which were on the node?  Our vendor has a few HX nodes that were retired, if we buy one of those and it had an unlimited IP Network license, do we get to keep the unlimited IP network license?

Any other suggestions?  If all else fails, we could run the node which we wanted to upgrade to unlimited IP Network connections from a node that has unlimited licenses, not my favorite solution.

Thanks again for all the help,
Seven days until this isn't a problem (retirement),
Jeff

What type of outside lines do you have?  SIP, PRI or ?  If you have PRI or POTS lines, can you connect a plain jane phone or a but set to the telephone lines to see if you have dial tone and are able to make and receive a phone call?  If you are able to test the lines, it might save you from the telco charging you if the problem isn't in there lines.

Unrelated to the paging system, but I think it was a nice fix, only took me a while to figure it out.  Maybe it will help someone else.

We only have four nodes.  Most locations are at warehouses/offices associated with growing and packing apples.  One is at a golf course, with a restaurant.  I switched them from a Avaya Partner to a node on our Mitel system a while back.  They were frustrated with Google Reservations, after I switched them from the Partner to Avaya it started calling the wrong number for reservations.  The number Google started calling (via DEE) was an employees cell.  I fixed Google calling wrong number by pointing the number at the restaurant phones, bypassing the phone tree.  Not ideal.  I finally figured out Google reservations always showed the same caller ID.  So I added the number Google used to call routing table three and pointed it to the restaurant phone extensions--like how I route harassing phone callers to a very long pause/greeting/dead air in a CRA, then it hangs up.  Yes, that is whack-a-mole, but works for unsophisticated callers.  Then I was able to route the restaurant number back to the phone tree and they were happy, yea.

Anyway, maybe this will help someone else.  Again, thanks to everyone who has helped me and thanks for the knowledge in this forum.

TE,

A million thanks for the ideas.

What I didn't finish adding to the post is we do have 50 pair copper part of the way and 25 pair copper the remainder of the way from the node to the paging system amp location.  Distance between node and paging system is about 1,800 to 2,000 feet.  I didn't think the copper would carry sound 2,000 feet--I was thinking of line level sound, not a telephone line.  When you mentioned copper, I realized it's a telephone line/signal/sound, not line level sound.  Kind of a 'Doh" moment.  Thanks, thanks, thanks!

My work duties include telephone, paging and a an assortment of other duties.  It would be nice if I could be responsible for just telephones, so I could keep sharp in that area.  When I work in something (like paging) once a year or every other year, it's a bit tough for me.  Such is life and I will find some cheese to go with that whine... :)  In another three weeks, it will be behind me as I will be retiring.  A new challenge, and one I am mostly looking forward to.  I appreciate all the information I have learned and the help I have received on this forum.

I (and my replacement) will connect the cables and see what the paging system sounds like from a LS on the node to the paging system.  Six to eight hundred feet of the cable is somewhat iffy, the cable is PE, but not icky pic and is run through underground conduit.  There are three other 25 pair inside type cables in the same conduit and they have had issues with cross talk. We haven't used the 25 pair PE cable in a while, so maybe (I can't remember) there is a good pair in the cable we can use.   I will post with the results, it might be early next week.

TE, thanks, thanks, thanks,

Jeff, who will be on John's Island full time soon.

I want to install a paging system in a location different from the node.  Paging system is about 1,800 to 2,000 feet away from node.  Paging system is a Bogen PCM, which can accept a trunk or extension/station for paging input.  Node is a HX box.

Options I am aware of are:
1. ATA using a FXO or FXS.  Doesn't look like I can add this to a page zone, however I could create a phantom, add it to the page zone and forward the phantom to the ATA, which would then connect to the page system

2. Connect a 5320 speaker to the paging system amp, wouldn't use the Bogen PCM.

3. Connect a node LS trunk to a set of ATA in peer mode, which then would connect to the page system.

4. Don't bother connecting the Bogen to a page zone, just use an ATA and program phones with that extension and//or tell people to call the ATA extension to page.

I have seen IP paging modules by Teracomm.  Perhaps they have something that would work.

I would guess others have dealt with this before and have better solutions than I have mentioned above or how do you handle this sort of situation.  I wish I could just add a SIP extension to a page zone.

Thanks in advance for any ideas to stop me from pulling out more hair.  :)

Jeff

3. Run a long A$$ cable from the node LS to the paging system.  25 pair cable is already in place for part of run, not sure of gauge.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Mitel database error on starting, my fix.
« on: October 16, 2023, 06:19:18 PM »
I had Mitel SA&D installed and working on a Win 10 laptop.  After I installed MS Office 365 as local app on the laptop, Mitel SA&D stopped working, with the database error message.  Very frustrating.

I was able to fix the error by uninstalling O365, Mitel SA&D, and Office 2010 Access, rebooting, reinstalling Mitel SA&D.  I did have to uninstall and reinstall a couple of times.  When installing MS Office 2010 Access as part of Mitel SA&D, it did hang and wouldn't finish installing even when I waited fifteen minutes.

I haven't reinstalled MS O365.  I wouldn't bet a penny Mitel SA&D would work If I reinstalled MS O365.

YMMV.

TE,

Thanks for the information.

Metroline has refurbished phones for sale cheaper than the repair cost.  I probably shouldn't have spent thirty minutes taking it apart and cleaning it, when a refurbished phone is so cheap.

Thanks again,

Jeff

I also checked the pins in the jack on the phone.  I think all contacts are in proper slots, and not touching another one.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / 5340e stuck booting
« on: February 07, 2023, 12:55:27 PM »
Good day!

I have a 5340e which after I plug it in, doesn't go past the mute, message below redial and keys on either side of LCD lights being on.  Standard 5340e without add on's.  I have searched the forums and pressed all buttons (don't see any stuck buttons.)

Does anyone have suggestions on what is causing the phone to not finish booting?

Thanks,

Jeff

I'm not an expert at Mitel system, YMMV, you are forewarned...

You could copy the settings from the working analog extension to the one giving you problems.  Hopefully when you paste it will give you a chance to choose what is being copied.  Read the list carefully and un-check the items which you don't want to copy, such as caller ID.

Best,

Jeff

Good afternoon from one who is still in the 250 land, and will hopefully retire before company retires the 250 ;)

When I right click on a Hot Desk Profile, select Associated Devices and References, then Save to Log, the text file doesn't list everything shown in the window.  I think the log is truncated.  I am converting a bunch of phones to not Hot Desk phones due to 911, it's a pain in rear when system is rebooted, cleaning up database, freeing extensions, etc..  I don't want to erase other users programmable keys when I delete the Hot Desk extensions.

In Database Reporting, I haven't found a report that will show programmable keys for Hot Desk phones.  It seems as if I will have to screen grab each extensions programmable keys.  I thought about taking a backup for the other nodes when the system isn't being used and restoring the backup after I created the phones, but I am not sure that will work, it would only help with other nodes and it seems a bit risky to me.

Does anyone have an idea how to record users programmable keys?

Thanks,

Jeff

TE,

Thanks for posting the information.  My Vendor just sent me a PDF of the announcement--they had to go to a different source at Mitel.

A BIG thanks to TE!

TE,

Thanks for the clarification.

My vendor checked with Mitel and they are still being told End of Add-on Sales is 6/30/2022.  I have searched on Mitel's web site for the EOL announcement, and I can't find the original announcement, nor the extended one.  Do you have a link to the announcement?

Thanks,

Jeff
