Our mitel 3300 mx is having issues and crashing intermittently. None of the phones can make out going calls or receive any calls. There is no dial tone on the phones either. On the LCD display of the phones there is a blinking cursor. Its as if the phones have lost connectivity to the controller. I can ping the 3300 but unable to logon by the web interface until you pull the power cable out or press the reset button. I've checked the programmed reboot display and is turned off. Current version is 8.0.9.20. This has been ongoing for atleast the last 6 months if not longer. We cannot put our finger on the issue and may not happen for months or so later.
I've searched the mitel software for know bugs and recently upgraded to 8.0.9.20 from 8.0.5.12
Modules are E1/T1, ASU and DSP.
Can someone check if this is a known issue with the mitel software backplane of the modules.

I do seem to remember a known error that effected only certain sites (certain configs i think) around release 8. I would suggest an upgrade to R9 UR3 as this is a known steady load (and my go to load for any controller that cannot be upgraded to MCD4.0

How large of a site do you have? I have seen this with a controller that was overloaded and the CPU would be maxed out. This ussually would not be a complete failure of calls, just make things extremely slow.

The problem that you describe is a known issue. That has been resolved with SW version 9.0UR2 and later. As you have a MX system you should follow BOBCHEESE and upgrade to 9.0UR3.

This is 100+user system.
I've been on mitel online and edocs but cannot locate the release note for 9.0 UR2/UR3, can you confirm what the known bug MN number is or provide a link to the release notes.

Not all information will be posted in the release notes. This is one of them. You upgrade to a version as mentioned above or put the scheduled reboot on once every couple of months. Sorry that I can't be of any further help.

search for the KPI fixed list in the knowledge base you will see it in there

I have found lots of similar issues in the release notes but the bugs are for version 9 and fixed in later releases of 9. I cannot find anything in ver 8 so support this.

well go and speak to mitel then but they will tell you to upgrade to 9 UR3. Do it already :)
