Unfortunately, if just changing the extension numbers isn't sufficient you will need to delete both phones and rebuild them.

If all you need to do is change the extension numbers, change one to a dummy extension number, then change the other one to the first extension number, then change the first (dummy) extension number back to the second one.

I think Ralph is correct here, I know of no way to turn off the backlight on a 5212/5224 set.

Find your Call Forward No Answer options in the Superkey menu and set them to the VM extension is all that is needed in most cases, the CFNA options may be buried a few options deep in Forward sub menus and there maybe more than one (Internal and External maybe separate).

If you can't find those options, contact your system admin, they will need to turn them on or apply a Call Reroute to your set, which is done via the system administration tool and not from the phone itself.

Non-Mitel Chatter / Captcha Sucks!!!
« on: June 26, 2012, 07:57:39 PM »
Anyone else have a terrible time with the Captcha here? I usually have to enter it at least 3 times before I get it correct and often have to request another image, rarely have that issue at other sites but it seems like almost everytime I have to give it several tries here.

I recently did an migration from a LW19 platform with an external VM to a SX200ICP with embedded VM in a hospitality environment. Everything seems OK with the VM until a guest room call arrives in the VM (the room is Checked In)... the VM answers and starts to say the expected guest room greeting then the strangeness occurs, what is heard is "The party you are calling is unav... Your message is too short and has been discarded" then the caller is sent back to the main greeting. I have verified the proper COS is applied to the VM ports and they seem to be programmed correctly, any ideas? BTW, there are no admin mailboxes and I haven't built one to test with yet, and if the room is not checked in the VM functions properly and plays a message then transfers the caller to the operator. Probably gonna call tech support in the morning, but thought I would run it by here first.

Mitel Software Applications / Re: Mitel UCE - UCA Hidden Files

Weird... assuming the resolution is correct, then I would check the font size, in Windows 7 it is under Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display, make sure it is set to Smaller - 100% (default), that can mess up not only installer but the client as well if it is set to anything else. Can also make sure they don't have anything set in "Set custom text size (DPI)", it should be set to 100%.

Mitel Software Applications / Re: Outlook Contact Import
« on: June 26, 2012, 07:51:17 AM »
I do not run UCA in house so I can't test these specific issues right now but have installed several of them over the last few monthes...

With UCA (it was different in YA) you cannot import any group or global contacts into the UCA client, only personal contacts that are in the default folder for Outlook. If you want to import anything other than the personal user contacts, you must copy them from the global address book (or any other address book hosted on the Exchange server or in a address book that is not the default user one) to the user's default personal address book, then sync.

The client is not fully compatible with Outlook 2010 64-bit, if memory serves me correctly most things work except calendar integration, contact importing, and contact CID name substitution (basically anything that talks to Outlook directly).

Remember that you can set any number of mailboxes to light the message waiting light of a single set. Pressing the MSG button will tell you which mailbox they were left in, and in newer softwares (5.0+, maybe 4.x as well) even if you listen to all messages in one mailbox, the light will stay lite until all messages are cleared.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: xlite 5000 on nat
« on: June 25, 2012, 10:35:32 AM »
I had done an article on this a few years ago on another site... you can do this without a SIP-aware router for a few sets (more than 3 or 4 I recommend using a Border Gateway server), you need to verify the following settings:

- In System\IP Settings\ the System NAT IP Address needs to be set as the public IP address of the router used by the system
- In System\IP Settings\Advanced IP Settings\ the SIP UDP Listening Port Enable needs to be set to YES
- In System\IP Settings\Advanced IP Settings\ the SIP UDP Listening Port should be set to 5060
- In System\Devices & Feature Codes\IP Connections\P6000\ the NAT IP Address needs to be set to the public IP address of the router used by the system
- In System\IP-Related Information\ Create a new Call Configuration called Remote SIP
- In System\IP-Related Information\<Remote SIP ID created above>\ set the Speech Encoding Setting to G.729 and make sure Support RTP Redirect is set to YES

Now, in the router you need to do a bunch of Port Forwarding from the public IP address to the internal IP of the Processor Module (This is for SIP AND Mitel IP Phones):

5060/UDP & TCP*
69/UDP
20001/UDP
6800-6802/TCP
3998-3999/TCP
6004-7039/UDP*
50095-50508/UDP*

* Essential to SIP operation, 5060 is signalling, the other port ranges are used by the RTP stream

And if you want to manage the 5000 remotely, add the following ports:

22/TCP
443/TCP
44000/TCP (4000/TCP may be needed for systems prior to version 5.0)

More information on port usage can be found in the Mitel 5000 CP Installation Manual, section B.24 - Port Usage and Protocols.

I have seen some routers which will just not work, Sonicwall being the most common I run across (it will work for a short time, but audio will drop at 10 minutes), most Linksys and D-Link routers work well, but we have had issues with Netgear and Belkin. Cisco and other enterprise class routers do not seem to have these issues.

EDIT: Almost forgot, in the station programming itself for the SIP device, you need to go into System\Devices and Feature Codes\Phones\<ext>\IP Settings and change Call Configuration to the Remote SIP Call Configuration you created above, and change the NAT Address Type to NAT. Note that if you are inside the firewall and have the NAT Address Type set to NAT, the phone may not work, it depends on you router, meaning you may have to change this setting depending on where you are using the device (inside or outside the router).

Mitel Software Applications / Re: Mitel UCE - UCA Hidden Files

In Vista/Win7 it is either in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mitel or C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mitel

But I think what you are looking for is in the Registry... unfortunately I don't have UCE installed right now and can't find the correct key, best to search the registry for Mitel, UCE, or a piece of the invalid data (bad IP or whatever).

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Backup fail error
« on: June 21, 2012, 09:52:44 PM »
Fromt he maintenance prompt, enter "dbms check full" and let it complete, it probably won't fix your problem but it can't hurt, then I would try stopping the vmail talks and restarts them...

From the serial port (or ssh terminal) enter:

iPVM_Stop

then when the command prompt returns enter

iPVM_Start

then when the command prompt returns, try the backup again... I have a system on MCD 4.2 that does something like this all the time, and although the log messages are slightly different, the problems we see and yours all seem to be related to free space on /vmail/ partition (yours in c/voxdrv/, mine problem is in /vmail/temp) and there isn't actually a problem, just something stuck in the iPVM tasks.

No guarantee it will work, but it is the only thing I can think of.

On another note, when did you last get a good backup? if it is fairly recent and the above stuff doesn't work I would recommend defaulting (or better yet a manual reinstall of software using the FixPartition flag), relicense and then restoring the database
