Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: An MBG, SIP Trunk, and IVR Challenge
« on: December 22, 2023, 02:16:45 PM »
You will need to capture the packets and look at the invite as it's being sent to the carrier... the callers number should be in the from field and the CPN (billing number) should be in the p-asserted-identity field, if it isn't then the carrier might do some manipulation to make sure it can verify with stir/shaken. In some instances they just put the CPN number in the from field.

Hopefully you have some in stock... these are wireless handset kits are getting hard to find and ridiculously expensive.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: How do I change Public IP on MBG?
« on: November 26, 2023, 08:56:10 PM »
The MBG only supports static IP's... and you have to telnet/SSH into the console and login as admin and re-run the setup to change the IP.

Quote
I have an ISP that only issue their static public IPs Dynamically
Not sure how that works exactly, because they can do the dynamic reservation and that is fine... but there is no reason you can't just set it up statically on your end. The end result is the same.

It depends on the FIM's installed... in theory, infinite (well, on the surface of the earth) with proper electronics, but if you mean connected directly by dark fiber then it's whatever the FIMs are rated at, typically 1km although there were other options.

You typically do this with a Phantom Extension, then Call Forward the phantom extension to the external number using Remote Station Programming.

Build a new Phantom Extension, then use Remote Programming FAC from a working phone...

359 (Remote Programming FAC by default)
xxxx (extension of Phantom you created)
yyyy (Password of the extension, by default the same as the extension number)
355 (Call Forward Always FAC)
8 (External Access)
npanxxxxxx (Destination number as you would dial it from a phone)
SPEAKER

The display should say CALL FWD ALWAYS TO xxxxxxxx (the number programmed in).

Then set the Ring In Destination for the number in question to the Phantom Extension.

There are some caveats to this, and probably a way to do it with DEE, but this is the way I always do it.

The default username is admin... it is unlikely it was removed or changed (not sure it's even possible)...

The programming software is version specific, so it depends what version you have.

A factory reset is NOT recommended, as you will wind up with an unlicensed box, which will function but will reset every 240 minutes. The license key comes only from Mitel and is tied to the hardware ID of the sd card.

Incompatibilities exist...

All Bluetooth versions (including 5.2) are backwards compatible all the way to Bluetooth 1 as part of the standard... Assuming all devices strictly follow the Bluetooth protocol standards. So the issue isn't directly related to the Bluetooth versions, although not all manufacturers implement things strictly on the standards. If I was a betting man, I would be more inclined to believe that the problem isn't the phone as much as the headset.

We have seen a small number of compatibility issues with BT headsets not intended for phone applications, or really cheap ones (I get that doesn't apply here), with Mitel 69xx phones... Some work great and some do not, and price or quality don't seem to be the contributing factor in general. I kind of assume the headset is trying to negotiate a better quality codec or protocol and the phone is refusing it as unsupported, but the headset won't agree on a lower protocol, so it gets stuck in a loop. I don't know this headset specifically, but in some cases they have setup software or app that can allow you to enable/disable specific protocols or codecs which might just take some playing around to get working (if you device supports that).

In general, we only recommend Plantronics/Polycom, Jabra, Sennheiser, or Yealink headsets with phones, and anything else it's "unsupported and at your own risk".

I have to do this a couple times a week... Go to Programs and Features, find Microsoft Access, select Modify, and repair the installation... No need to even close MSA&D application.

Best I can come up with is something in Windows updates is replacing a DLL file in the Windows folder, and repairing it writes the Access version of the DLL again.

So the resolution to problem for us seemed to be the incorrect base license on the system... In the past we had always used an ISS license for Hyper-V servers, and even sales engineering said that was the correct one, but it seems now a virtual base license is required (or an ISS to Virtual update license). I am awaiting the ISS to VM license and will apply and hopefully this should be resolved now.

« on: September 27, 2023, 05:59:31 PM »
If you set the MBG as the gateway for the SMB/3300, yes. You can port forward in the MBG to the controller and do remote maintenance. I haven't done this with an SMB, but have it setup with several physical 3300 controllers.

I have opened a ticket in Tech Central Tracker... will update when I hear more...

EDIT: Friday: Got nowhere with support today... basically got told to clear hardware IDs, disconnect AMC account from MSL, wipe and redeploy MSL and start over... not much of an answer and nothing changed. Hopefully will move forward on Monday.

EDIT2: Tuesday: Well, still not getting very far... support requested sos logs to examine now. Waiting on update from them. Luckily the customer has other things happening and is delaying the install.

Having exact same issue on a new MiVB ISS ISO installed in Hyper-V we are building up, except it's an Enterprise one with MiCollab and a small cluster... verified licensing with AMC support and base license part number correct with sales engineering... Licensed fine in MSL Server-Manager, nothing in MiVB blade and no way to add/correct it... MiCollab server licensed fine... Going to open a ticket with tech support in the AM, seems like something with the new 10 SP1 software.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Bria SIP smartphone app
« on: September 12, 2023, 04:33:24 PM »
It's actually pretty simple... (I assume you know how to add a new SIP user in general)

Set the public facing IP of the router in System - IP Settings - System NAT IP Address and in System - Device annd Feature Codes - IP Connections - P6000 (base) - NAT IP Address

In the SIP Peers Phone Profile Configuration leave everything default except set:

Call Congfiguration: 2
Maximum Number of Calls: 2
Supports Display Updates: Yes
Supports Ad Hoc Conferencing: Yes
DTMF Decoding Payload: 101

Authentication:
Enable In-bound Auth: Yes
Inbound Auth Username: sipuserxxx (a unique username, if it's x125, we often use sipuser125)
Inbound Auth Pass: xxxxxxxxxxxx (complex SIP password)
Use P-Asserted-Identity: Yes

MWI: Accept MWI - Yes

NAT Settings: NAT Address Type: NAT

In the firewall, disable SIP ALG and set port forward to the following:

SIP: 5060/UDP from Any to MiVO 250 IP
RTP: 6004-7039/UDP from Any to MiVO 250 IP

In the user, change the NAT type from Native to NAT

In Bria setup for the server, make the following changes:

Service Label: (Account name you define)
Domain: (Public IP of firewall)
Port: Auto (or 5060)
Username/Call Extension: xxx (user extension)
Authorization Username: sipuserxxx (username on SIP Profile above)
SIP/Voice Password: xxxxxxxxxxxx (use a complex password from SIP profile above)
Call Display: (blank)
Register with domain and receive calls: Yes
SIP Proxy: (blank)
Transport: UDP
SRTP: No/Disabled
Registration Time: 300
RPORT: Enabled
Keep Alive: Enabled
Voicemail Number: 2500 (Ext of VM application)
Firewall Method: None
(everything else leave unchanged)

In the mobile app after installing and signing in, go to Settings - Accounts - (Account Name)
Use Push Notifications: ON
Push Registration Mode: Single Device Takeover
NAT Emulation: OFF
(Do not change anything else)

"MVF"? Mitel Virtualization Framework? This is just built into the update, you shouldn't have to do anything special, it's just a single upgrade step...

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Upgrading EX Platform
« on: August 23, 2023, 03:54:20 PM »
Upgrading an EX controller is no different than any other controller, it's fairly simple on the newer platforms since 9.0.

Make sure you have active SWA, go into the Server Manager and download the update, then initiate the upgrade. My experience is this takes about 90-120 minutes per controller.

You can do it the "old" way with the MiVoice Business Software Installer, but this way is so much easier and takes less intervention. If you have remote access to any PC on the network you can do the upgrade remotely. I have done dozens of them without incident, not that things can't go wrong, but I haven't seen an upgrade fail in a very long time.
