Title: Scheduled Backups
Post by: xxovermetalxx on January 04, 2016, 04:15:39 PM
Hello,

I am currently trying to schedule backups of a Mitel 5000 to an onsite file server using the "Everything to a PC" option. For the folder, I'm using a UNC path such as "\\servername\path". I've gone through the tabs on the backup screen and filled in the appropriate information and, when finished, completed a test. The test finishes normally and creates the backup file in the correct path on the server and I receive a confirmation email. The problem is that when the scheduled backup is supposed to kick off, nothing happens. I don't receive a failure message or a success message, and no backup is created. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem? Does the computer (my laptop) with Mitel System Administration & Diagnostics have to be on and running for the backup to occur?

Thanks in advance.

xxovermetalxx,

Yes it has to be up and running or else the Windows event scheduler won't run to start the backup.

Thanks,

TE

Thanks for the reply. That is interesting, I sort of figured but havn't had time to test it out.... so do most people who use scheduled backups just make sure a dedicated PC running Mitel System Admin is up and running?

The PC needs to be running, but the application doesn't have to be open. Once it's programmed, the Windows event scheduler takes over.

I have a virtual Windows 7 desktop that handles my backups.
