Title: Block Outgoing calls
Post by: Metallix on February 01, 2013, 05:16:57 AM
Hi,

I have been asked to set up a block that stops users calling premium phone numbers.
Is there a way to create a outgoing black list or similar?

We are using a mitel 3300 system version 8.0.11.7

Sure.   Set up an ARS route that has a COR that no one can use.

1- Edit the class of restriction form.
2- Pick a number that isn't used. -try 64.
3- edit it to block 1-64
4- edit the ARS Routes form.
5- Pick a blank one - try 64.
6- Put any trunk group in there.  Put 64 in the COR field.  Digit mod can be anything - try 64.
7- Edit the ARS digits dialed form.
8- Add entry for the premium number - 0 digits to follow- route 64.  (don't forget to include your outside access code in the digits dialed i.e. 9
9- Save and done.   Calls to that number should be blocked.  - test.
10- Repeat step 8 for all the premium numbers you want to block.

Not sure how it works overseas, but if all premium numbers start with the same string, then just don't have that string in the ARS table to start off with.

Otherwise, yes Ralph's solution works just as well, and is probably better as it gives you some flexibility down the track.

Thanks for help but im a complete novice when it comes to this system.

The biggest problem im having is i cant find any ARS form.
The closest i have is a ARS Digits dialed assignment or ARS Leading digits assignment.

The ARS digits dialed form is where you will list the numbers you want to block and reference the route you build that will block them.

That being said if you don't do it right you could disable your outbound calling. You may want to contact your VAR.

I agree with Mattmayn,
If you're not comfortable with the forms you have the potential of blocking everyone from outbound calls.
You VAR should be able to do this within 15 minutes to a half an hour remotely and then once set up the tech should be able to show you how to block additional numbers without risk to everything else.
