Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Random ip6920 handset reboots

Switch, Cisco Meraki MS225

Will updating the 3300 to v10 then push out a fw update to all of the handsets?

You can check the switch and see if that tells you anything interesting.

Yes, an update to the MiVB will include updated phone firmware and the phones will download and apply the new firmware. I don't recall if you need to reboot the 6900's or if they automatically check and update.

Might just be the 6900 set firmware, the early versions were very buggy. There's a procedure to update just the set firmware, but frankly I'd go ahead and update the entire system if possible as MiVB 8.0 is either out of support or about to be.

SIP On Mitel / Re: Alarm lines on ATA's

We're exploring this too - just watch on your fire panel lines they have to be NFPA compliant with a certain level of battery backup in case of a power failure.

I was on a webinar showing the Ooma Airdial product as a POTS replacement solution, they mentioned for elevator phones there's a requirement for 8 hours of battery backup. The Airdial unit would be a good fit as it has battery backup built-in, and FirstNet also has a device designed for alarm panels https://www.firstnet.com/industry-solutions/iot/alarm-iot-solutions/starlink-fire-lte.html.

The battery is soldered to the board. iStream will refurbish them, including replacing the battery, for $99 each.

Yeah that seems to be the consensus. Working on my POTS replacement strategy and this is one of the things I don't have a simple replacement for. We can get cellular adapters, either from the alarm vendor or from FirstNet, but then I have to find funding (public agency, I have no budget for anything of course).

A scheduled export will send the file to the FTP server defined in the External FTP Server form.

Best way to troubleshoot this would be to get a packet capture on both ends and see what the SDP messaging is telling you.

SIP On Mitel / Alarm lines on ATA's
« on: January 26, 2024, 12:05:07 PM »
Anyone here successfully got alarm lines working via an ATA? I'm trying to get a Simplex panel to play nice via a Grandstream HT818 on a MiVB rel. 10.0.0.76. The calls out from the panel to the monitoring station are completing, but the alarm company tells me they're not communicating. I've played around with DTMF methods and echo cancellation settings, but not finding a combination of settings that works. Fax machines and analog phones on the same ATA are working fine.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: How do multiple COS apply?
« on: January 25, 2024, 11:02:27 AM »
For timers, the shortest will apply. For other settings, the most specific setting will apply. So for things like CPN substitution, you can have a system-wide setting, a trunk group/SIP peer specific setting, and a set specific setting. In the case of something being programmed for all 3, the set-specific setting will apply.

Check the Push Notification logs in the MiCollab server manager. Once logged in to server-manager, go to Administration -> View Log Files, and display the uc_server/pushnotif.log log. You should see log messages like this that indicate MiCollab is sending out a push notification to a user that there's an incoming call:

Quote
[MbusDispatcher] INFO  com.mitel.pushnotif.mbus.PushNotifMbusCallback - Recieved notification, event = call

If you're not seeing those, you can try re-starting the "PUSH_NOTIF" module in MiCollab Client Service -> Perform Diagnostics -> Modules. If that doesn't change anything, you'll need to get a ticket open with Mitel support.

Alright... This turned out to be easier than I thought, those three specific ports on the Grandstream were not registered. They appeared to be registered on the GS port status but in the Mitel they showed LOCKED AuthFailure (but they could place calls out?!?!). Rebooting the Grandstream then showed them as not registered and I reset the sip password many times and couldn't get it to clear. Finally I removed the extensions from the GS until SIP EXT xxx didn't show the LOCKED message anymore (about 10 minutes) then put them back into the GS with the same credentials (copy and pasted) and they showed registered in both the Mitel and Grandstream and everything worked as expected. Very weird...

I find that different ATA's require the password in different places in the "Access and Authentication" tab in Users and Services Configuration in the MiVB. For my Audiocodes MP-11x, I have to enter it in the "User PIN" fields, but for the Grandstreams, I have to enter it in the "SIP Password" field. Also saving a new value here will reset the lockout timer. It follow the DISA lockout timer normally.

Ok, back from a few days off and on my regular machine. No idea why my comments were getting eaten when posting from my iPad, I tried different browsers, did a Preview before posting, no luck.

Based on the info in several KMS articles, it looks like everything in /etc/cron.daily is run during the NP nightly maintenance, I'm not sure on exactly how, but the /etc/crontab file specifically warns not to edit as it will get overwritten, so Mitel is doing something weird under the hood. To make things simple, just add your commands to the /etc/cron.daily/89NPMdaily file. Grab a copy of the original file first, of course. Open it up in vi or nano (ssh in, go to the /etc/cron.daily and "nano 89NPMdaily" or "vi 89NPMdaily"), add a comment line and then your shell commands, then save the file. Save a copy as well, as I would imagine this will get overwritten on an upgrade.
