I set up a hotline, it works well!  :) I have a phone designated for the negotiator, we just plug it into a POE port in whatever office or area has been designated for the negotiator staff.

I just have to make up a short procedure for either IT or jail shift supervisor to log into MyVoice Business, make the necessary configuration changes, and delete them after the even has ended. (There isn't any way to disable the hotline, but still retain the configuration changes.)

The Jail administrator has asked me to program a phone for the Lobby, for after hours.

Thank you for your help!

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Locking phones to dial one extension
« on: October 03, 2018, 05:03:57 PM »
I work at a prison. We have been going over scenarios that could happen here. One is a takeover of a pod by inmates. The phones are already locked down so that they can't dial the outside world. They can of course dial any extension on the PBX.

In the above situation, would it be possible to lock the extension in the pod so it would only dial a set extension? That is, only dial the 'Hostage negotiator' extension?

Also, could it be set to refuse calls from any other extension?

OR, can we connect two Mitel phones to each other without a PBX? A takeover happens, I pull the patch cable from the port in the server room and plug it directly into another phone.

Question 2: Can we conference other people into the negotiator phone, and mute them from our end?

Thank you for help,

Scott

I went into the COS and set the Display ANI/DNIS settings to No, I don't see the originating number, but I still see originating caller name.

I looked at Trunk settings, all I see that are set to Yes are Public Network Access via DPNSS and Trunk Calling Party Identification.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Scott

Thanks for the tip! I have a box of old hard drives, and motherboards, I'll pick through them.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / How to block call ID display on a phone
« on: January 03, 2018, 10:00:47 AM »
Hi all, we have a tip line that is monitored during the day. We want to hide the incoming Caller ID number, so it doesn't appear on the display. This will preserve anonymity for anyone calling the phone.

Is this possible?

Thank you,

Scott

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel phone not pairing with handset
« on: December 21, 2017, 02:55:40 PM »
We have a phone that has set idle for months. Got a new user, assigned them this phone.

I can't get a handset to pair with the phone.

Here's what I have tried: It is a new handset, DECT Bluetooth module, charging plate, and telephone base (so, new everything). The only thing that is the same is the hotdesk extension. The wire loop was missing, so I used a piece of foil to make the connection.

The previous user had complained of another issue - her phone would blink that she had voicemail every morning, but there was no voicemail. New user says he's getting the same problem.

I checked settings between the hotdesked phone in question and another hotdesked phone that works properly. They all match, except for the MAC, of course.

When I try to pair the devices, I get blue blinking lights on the phone and the handset, as normal. Nothing happens after that. The process times out.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Scott

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: 5448PKM - all LEDs are blinking

It pulls power from the module on the phone. We tried a spare PKM unit, same issue. I'll assume it's a bad module and replace that.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 5448PKM - all LEDs are blinking
« on: July 18, 2017, 02:42:32 PM »
The secretary's phone's 5448 PKM started blinking. All of the LEDs blink in synch. We rebooted both the phone and the PKM, it's still doing the same thing. Any ideas, other than replacing it?

Thank you,

Scott

John, thank you for your help. Upgrade is scheduled!

Will an upgrade fix it?

42
Release level 6.0
Active software load: 12.0.0.49.

We're getting an upgrade in July, but hope to solve the problem before then. (Some of the phones are used 24x7.)

We have seven phones that reboot themselves at 3AM every morning. The phones are in three different buildings, four different departments, and two different 3300s. Some connect via a StreamLine unit, the reset via Ethernet cables, connected to two different switches. No other phones are affected.

Here's an excerpt from the log: An IP device, with DN 7701, registered at CDP L2 MAC address Not Supported, CDP L2 Port Not Supported, CDP L2 IP Address:
The connection to the heartbeat server is lost just before we lose the phones.

Early in this problem I changed out the 8101 phone, and changed the port on the switch. It seemed to fix the problem for a few days, but then it started again.

Any ideas? I've heard something about DHCP lease renewal, on another board.

The phones work perfectly, other than this issue.

Thank you for your help.

Mitel Software Applications / Can't listen to calls on an extension
« on: May 12, 2017, 01:09:22 PM »
I can't listen to calls on an extension. I see there is time against the call, but the Playback buttons are grayed out. If a another recorded extension calls the first extension, I can hear both sides of the conversation.

My user type is set to 'Call Manager'. Teleworker is set for this extension. We are using Oaisys Recording Server version 7.4.1032

What setting must be changed to allow me to listen to recorded calls on this extension? (In checking, I found another extension that is grayed out.)

Thank you,

Scott

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Count calls to a voice mail box
« on: April 27, 2017, 11:21:34 AM »
We have a tip line voice mail box, outside users can call and leave anonymous messages on it.

I need to get a report of all the calls that go to it during certain timeframes (If it reported, for example, 5 calls on January 3, 1 on March 17, etc. it would meet our needs). How do I do this? I've noodled around in Maintenance, but haven't found it.

I read that the Mitel system only counts the last 20 calls to an extension, how do I change that to a higher number?

Thank you,

ScottL
