Title: Add an extension to dial by name
Post by: ScottL on October 09, 2019, 09:10:31 AM
I have an extension with no voicemail attached to it. I want users to be able to enter the extension name into the dial by name function and get sent to that extension (it has an operator on hand 24/7).

However, it seems I need to add a voicemail to the extension, so Dial-By-Name will be able to look it up. I don't want to add voicemail to that extension.

How do I do this? If I have to set up a voicemail, can I set it to zero messages allowed?

Thank you for your help,

Scott

You may have to play with this a bit.
Start by being sure the extension is not forwarded to voice mail.
It will have to have a mailbox in order to get put in the dial by name.
What I'm not sure about is if you can change the mailbox type and still have it set to not receive message.  So you'll have to try it.
Try setting the mailbox type to transfer only.  You may have to set it up first as a type "Extension", run through setting up all the greetings and name and then change it back to "Transfer Only."

If embedded, might make a transfer box that dials a speed call that way the extension will never match
