Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: SIP trunks
« on: April 10, 2009, 08:48:36 AM »
im using SIP trunks in my Lab from vitelity.net over the standard internet and can be shaky in high traffic times.

my customers successfully using SIP trunks have MPLS installed in their sites and that their SIP provider

my lab trunks work as good as SIP trunks on the Internet ever will.... remember the internet as a whole does not support QoS throughout...  and also your customer will want to make sure that at least their Pipe and maybe their ISP do support QoS on their portion of the network...

SIP trunks uncompressed take 100k bandwidth cost PER concurrent call...

make sure you set up your COR so that fax machines going through the PBX dial out over standard PSTN trunks...(at least until t.38 really works)

the serial ports on the MX and MXE controllers are VERY fragile....  the LEAST bit of static electricity will usually pop them.. and the port may very well send out to you but not receive.. thats a common issue...

I have also had on 7.0 variants an issue where the system would boot and run but not allow login through the ESM..., however telnetting to it to the SX-2000 call control shell and then running a dbms check full... then rebooting  resolved the issue...  tech support indicated the database corrupted and caused the issue...

also, unlike the sx-2000, on the 3300 if you get a corrupted database you are not totally hosed...doing a backup and restore forces a database "cleaning" which will get rid of the corrupted parts of your database and load the good part...  so you may lose a couple stations or a Class of service etc but not the whole DB...

those familiar with SX-2000 database Loss find this a real nice "feature"...

one thing to note is that the system WILL operate and process calls normally while the drive copying takes place....

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / SNTP supported yet?
« on: April 10, 2009, 08:34:34 AM »
I cant seem to get anyone at mitel tech support or sales support that knows when / if SNTP client / server will be supported on the 3300 system. I only have a couple customers that are running under E-manager with multiple systems..  most of the rest are running the 3300 purely for the capability of SIP telephones...

SIP telephones present a problem in and of their own which is they either must have Internet access to a Public time server or "preferrably" get it from the PBX.. (which doesnt work yet).. so I am having to keep a small embedded Linux Machine on site that does nothing but Serve time to these phones...

anyone "in close" with the developers at mitel know if this is in the works? of course i have filled out all the forms to request it (over 2 years ago when SIP first showed up in 7.1... officially in 8.0)

tracert "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address or hostname to traceroute to(you need the quotes)..  that works for me in the port 2002 shell

do a netHelp (case sensitive) and you will get all kinds of network commands you can do. all the RTC shell commands are case sensitive

I know this is an old post..  but why not upgrade to 4.0 software and set up form 55 which is DID translation(or was form 55 introduced in 3.0.. I cant remember and all my 200's are 4.0)..  then you can send the 6985 DNIS to any set you like...

what mitel probably meant was they dudnt want you IPing into the RTC..  I was told by mitel Never to use the CDE forms in the RTC shell..  and on one of ,my lab systems purposely made programming changes in the RTC shell  (old sx-2000 forms) and sure enough corrupted the database....   at the time I was trying to come up with a faster modem dialup procedure rather than the MAP and using the bandwidth heavy ESM.... (so,me of our customers dont like giving us IP access)

Mitel standard internal ring is 1 second on, 3 seconds off...

Outside(DID) ring is .5 sec on, .5 sec off, .5 sec on, 2.5 sec off

I know I have tried to get mitel support to share.... I even said "come on we were one of the top 5 hospitality sales last year" but they still wouldnt.... they are probably worried about guys like me that would try every command just to see what it does.....  hehehe

if you just want to use it for centralized Auto attendant.. set up an Asterisk server and use it as an AA only.. would save a lot of license fees for mailbox licenses on all of the 3300's..  you can run it via SIP lineside or SIP trunks to the 3300's...

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: ACD agent presented with two calls
« on: February 18, 2009, 09:28:15 AM »
it sounds to me like there are calls being presented to the phone as a non ACD call... the way I understand it is if a phone is on an ACD call it can still receive a non ACD call on another multi-call or key line appearance....  im guessing if you transfer a call off and it needs to recall it could still recall back to you on another line key? and by this time you have answered another ACD call so it gives the appearance of receiving 2 calls?  im just tossing out ideas

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / definitive Shell command guide?
« on: February 18, 2009, 09:24:37 AM »
it seems over the years..  mitel support along with other techs and even on this forum give out commands for specific testing / diagnostic purposes...  however most if not all of these are undocumented in the help system / tech handbook...

is there anywhere a definitive guide to all these specialized commands and what they do?

some are entered in VXworks..  others in RTC shell, plus also diagnostics info being printed on say port 2001 etc..

« on: February 18, 2009, 09:16:08 AM »
sounds to me like the mailbox is set up as a hotel Mailbox and isnt "checked in".. if you call the room it forwards t ovoicemail and you hear "You are being transferred to... the operator" that means the mailbix is in a hotel room checked out status...  you need to either set up a PMS interface to the voicemail or log into a front-desk type mailbox and check the guest room mailbox in....

this feature is done so that it eliminates hotel guests getting stale messages from previous guests when they check in

make sure you didnt accidentilly kill the BCC card by not waiting long enough for it to come up... remember it has to download its firmware from the PBX when it boots up and sees a different version than is what is already on the card....

I had more than one of my techs brick BCC-III cards on the 200-EL that way  (then id have to reload them manually)...

you can watch the BCC-III card load by connecting to the printer port of the SX-200 Bay and hyper-terminal at 38400,N,8,1..  if the card boots and just says "waiting for AFC" it means it hasnt seen the 3300...  if the card gives you an error like "cant find bcc3.o" the card has lost its programming....

« on: February 18, 2009, 09:03:52 AM »
might want to try using the old standby options 128-132  setup.. I find a LOT of mitel phones ship with dismally old firmware and wont support 125 till they get online the first time...  I havent had any issues with the 5302 per say as I only have a few in the field..
