as per title I have got a warning about this in system logs (continually. There is no domain name entered and I honestly can't ever remember adding one in any system I have done. However I keep getting the warning. Why should I need it ? Can I just use the local domain name or do I need a FQDN?
CX11 MCD5.0 pr1 SIP trunks.

I don't think it's essential (Default is blank), but I have not done a system without one... This is just the HOST name, not FQDN, so it's vmcd, stpaulnorth, or rochphones.

Cheers I've never done one with and never had this problem before.

I have found the host name and domain name useful for SIP trunks when the carrier required sending domain name and host name in SIP signalling instead of IP address. In SIP peer profile there is Address Type with two options:
FQDN - the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the local host, and the DNS name from the System IP Properties form.
IP - from the System IP Properties form.

Yup, this one is set to IP in sip peer.
