Title: External call forward
Post by: jsnapp on November 09, 2015, 12:56:18 PM
I have a site that has two different external numbers in two different towns.  Location B wants to forward all incoming calls to Location A.  Receptionist is going on vacation.  Is there an easy way to do this with a Mitel 3300 system?

Thanks in advance!

Are the two systems tied together or do they have to call each other externally?

Is the Receptionist using a 5340 phone, PC console or an attendant console?

The two systems are tied together.
She is using a 5340e IP phone.

Now it depends on how the receptionist phone is programmed.
If the calls ring to her prime line (lower right hand button) then you can use the blue menu button and forward the phone.
If the calls ring to any other buttons then you need to know it if rings to a hunt group of button or just to a button.
That's more tricky.
To try and figure it out, if your extension are 4 digits then take the last 4 digits of your main line and dial it.  If the phone rings then it's easier.
If not then it will be a bit more work.

Do you program your own system?

How would I figure out if it is a hunt group?  I'm not on site at the other location, but have access to server manager, etc.

Both sites are 4 digits, but dialing the last four of the main line gave invalid.  I was thinking I could go to Call flow, mailbox #, schedule weekly, change something in there.  Or go to call forwarding profile and set something up there as this will only be temporary until she returns.  There has to be an easy way.  I'm new to Mitel and it gives me a headache!

Do you program your own system? No, but I have figured out how to fumble my way through server manager, etc.  :)

Since you mentioned call flow mailbox you may be on to something.
When you call in, does it ring your receptionist 1st or does it hit a call flow mailbox first?
If it hits a call flow mailbox try dial the 4 digits of the call flow mailbox and see what you get.
You may need to edit your call flow mailbox.

Office location one has a mailbox of 7790 and office location two has a mailbox of 78990.
After so many unanswered rings at office location two it will automatically ring the main number at office location one.
They want to take out the wait for callers.
I've included a screenshot of mailbox 78990 call flow.  Office location two is the location where the receptionist will be going on vacation and any callers should automatically forward to location one right away and not wait.

It sounds like 78990 is the number we're looking for.
If you call it it should ring the receptionist phone.  You didn't say that specifically but that's what I read into it.

In programming look for the form: Call Forwarding Profile
Add an entry for 78990, call type Always, Destination 7790.
Turn it "on".

As long as the receptionist at site two can call site one by dialing 7790 then this should work for you.
Turn it off when you don't want it forwarded..
