I've heard rumor of a replacement for the 5610 Cordless.

Anyone else hear of this?

Wanting to get some 5610's but not sure if I should wait if a replacment is around the corner...

Is this available on the 3300?

If you press the "SuperKey" then the line holding it should show you who is holding.

Ralph

Sorry, not familar with the "superkey".  Are you talking the "X" key?

153
Is this a feature you know of from another system or an awkward customer?

Not that I know of, but it sure makes logical sense.  This way you can prep for a call (ie, pull up the customer file) before answering.

No. There is no way to see the caller ID of a call on hold in the 5000, but they should receive it as soon as they answer the call.

Is this available on the 3300?

Yeah, pretty sure the Avaya Partner can do this, with a feature called Caller ID Inspect.

Cool.  I've not tried this.

I thought there may be some feature code that would allow this like the "barge in" for calls, but rather just to inspect the CID of the line.  Would be nice even just to tell who someone is speaking with if their line is busy.

154
Is there any way to find out what CID is on a specific line?

Example, if someone pages "Joe, take line 2"

Can Joe, who see's the line blinking, check the CID before taking the line?

Thanks!

Good info, thanks guys.  So is 379 the magic feature code?  I've not had a chance to try yet....

I am assuming that 2530 is a CRA and not a hunt group (thus the TFR From ... message)

Yes, sorry :)  I meant CRA.

My mind is once again blown by mitel...

I am in the same boat, I agree I think this is ridiculous.

Is this a 5000 only thing, or does the 3300 have the same issues?

I agree.  I sometime wonder if the guys at mitel even use their own phones ;)  Perhaps they uses Cisco or Panasonic at the mitel HQ lol

There is rumor of lots of changes with V6...supposed to come out soon.  Perhaps they will add some more options to correct these seemingly silly things?

Not sure if others can verify if this is the intended behavior...?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Caller ID woes...

When calls outside calls come in from people with cell phones, the ID is usually "UNKNOWN" for the first line, and the second line will display the phone number, ie 555-123-4567

The problem is, the number of the caller is not visible until the call is picked up.

Instead, it looks like this...

Unknown
TFR from EXT2530

When the line is answered it looks like

Unknown
555-123-4567

Sure would be nice to see the phone number BEFORE the call is answered.  Kind of defeats the purpose of Caller ID :)

TFR from EXT2530, 2530 is the hunt group that the call is ringing on.

Let me know what you guys are doing to get around this,

Thanks guys.   Lots of good idea's.

I'm liking the 5610 idea the best for this application.  Right now we have some Panasonic cordless units tied in with out mitel that our warehouse guys use, but i'm thinking the 5610 would work better.

Feature codes are not bad...there would not be that many that are required.

Thanks!

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / 3 or 4 digit Extensions...
« on: March 30, 2013, 05:36:37 PM »
Is there any reason to or not to use 3 digit extensions?

Default, we are using 4 digit extension but would like to go back to 3 digit for ease of remembering.

Is there any technical reason this should not be done?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Mobile Receptionist, advice needed.
« on: March 30, 2013, 05:34:55 PM »
I'm trying to find a creative way to have a mobile receptionist.

The situation is, there is a receptionist who answers the next incoming call on her mitel headset by pressing the headset button, but she is unable to page, put the caller on hold or transfer the call unless she is at her desk (the headset button just accepts and hangs up), so she has to run back to the desk every time the phone rings.

Apparently 50% of the time she is away from the desk.

The call volume is not very high, approx 5-15 calls per hour on an average.

Any such thing as a remote version of a mitel phone so she can do this?  I've never used the mitel wireless units.  Would they be able to do this?  If so, model suggestions?

162
Thanks guys.  Lots of good idea's, and I'll give them a try.

Got the visual thing already figured, but appreciate the advice.

I wonder if Mitel will ever off this feature?  I could see it being very useful.

Had this query from a doctors surgery who had an 'emergency' DDI which was priority to pick up, ended up adding an SLT mounted on a wall to give a different ring tone.

By SLT, you mean single line telephone I assume.  So, if I have 3 companies and I want 3 distinctive ring tones I need 3 separate phones???

I was worried it would come down to this.

Any way V6 update might have the ability to have the same phone make different tones for different lines/hunt groups/extensions?

164
Try assigning a line to a phantom and have the phantom set as a secondary extension key on the phone. That should provide a different ring tone for that line...

Jim

Has anyone actually tried this?  Would be sweet if it worked...

165
Is it possible to have different ring tones from different lines from the same phone?

I've seen this work with some Panasonic systems, but can't seem to figure how to do this with the mitel unit.

Situation: 3 analog lines, each represent a different company.  Trying to find a way so that each line can have its own distinctive ring tone from the same phone.

We are running 5320, 5330 and 5340 phones.

Would be nice to do this with hunt groups as well.

Looking forward to any light that can be shed on the issue.
