Tech Electronics is correct... You cannot purchase these from Mitel and vendors cannot "transfer" them to other vendors.

The ONLY way I can think of that this would be possible is to have the customer move to a new vendor, transfer their AMC record(s) to them and have that vendor apply them... that is IF that vendor already has some of these licenses and is willing to give them to a new customer like this, which is probably unlikely. Note that transferring an AMC record is not free either.

The isl file is the license file, and it can only be provided to you by the vendor who "owns" the AMC license record.

If you want to get the license file, you would have to either deal with that vendor or move your license record to another vendor who is willing to provide it for you. The new vendor would send you some docusign documents to fill out online so they can request an ownership change with Mitel, and the losing vendor will have the opportunity to respond or dispute the move (often occurs in situations where you are not in good standing with the losing vendor, like you owe them money). If that is successful and approved by Mitel, the winning vendor can download the license key and provide it to you.

Unfortunately, there is no other way around this... The system requires a valid license that is associated with the license dongle (maybe physical device or embedded in the compact flash, depending on the age of the device). Otherwise it will reboot every 240 minutes until a proper license is loaded.

We have a spare MXE III with RTC, SATA Raid, etc that our local county government ordered in case of hardware failure.

I am wondering if there were a scenario where the MXE III failed, could I just swap HDDs from one cabinet to another nad have it come up and work, or does the Mitel software care what environment it lives in?

Jim
You can literally do that with a few caveats...

1) the system IP address and associated information is stored in firmware, you will need to set it through the RS232 port on initial boot
2) you will need to move the SYSID chip as well (looks like a lithium battery on inside the cabinet), this is what keys the software license to the hardware platform. If you move that you don't have to relicense the controller or anything, just boot and go.
3) by HDDs I assume you mean you have a RAID controller. The drives are "keyed" to the RAID controller, if you move the RAID controller and drives as a set, you are fine... if you move the drives to a different RAID controller you will need to clear the hardware IDs and resync them.
4) Be careful to keep things in the same physical positions... moving them like having the PRI card in slot 1 and then on the other controller it's in slot 2 can create all kinds of havoc in some cases

There are probably a few more, but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Got it working,Got a tech support guy that actually knew what to do.

We made key system keys and directed the trunks to those, and built DTS profiles for trunks.

This application has pots lines but i see no reason the same setup wouldn't work with sip trunks.
Nice, guess I didn't even think of that... And in some situations it is probably OK, but I believe there is a hard limit to the number of simultaneous appearances you can have of a key system line appearance in the system.

Shoretel - MiVoice Connect / Re: SA-100 troubles
« on: July 14, 2023, 02:01:12 PM »
I believe the SA-100 is extension of the Shoretel system, although I am not familiar with it.

More details are going to be necessary to assist with this... Types of phones, if other, known working phones work on these ports or if these phones work on other known good ports, if the switch has been reboot, patch cords or cable runs tested, etc.

I am going to move this to what I believe is a more appropriate discussion area.

There is no "networking" between them like in the sense of the MiVO Intertel networking or MiVB cluster networking... but you can have SIP trunks between them and route calls using ARS on the different systems. It's a pain, did it once and probably won't do it again... and if the customer is used to the MiVO networking, it's very annoying they can't have any of the features like BLF's from remote systems, users in groups on other systems, etc.

what could conflict when only looking for the number of digits?  I want to add 9 for trunk group access only if it sees 10 or more digits dialed.

The MiVB doesn't work that way, it searches for a match on each digit in the order it was dialed. If there's a conflict, it waits for the inter digit timer to expire before processing the dialed string. ARS on that system was designed around having to dial a leading digit for external calls.
I would agree with this... to the point that if the customer absolutely refuses to have a leading digit for outbound calls, the MiVB system may not be the correct fit for them and something else would be a better option. The system's dialing plan was designed around using a leading digit for external calls, trying to circumvent that would be nearly impossible.

Order a new pair, backup, replace drives, reinstall, and restore...

Use SHOW STATUS REDUNDANT for information about the redundancy.

Remember you must have valid SWA in place to do this... otherwise it will never license, regardless of the root cert patch.

Good Morning.

I have a controller at the above release.  The plan to to jack it up to MCD 8.0 latest SP.  Can I upgrade straight from MCD 4.2 to MCD 8.0.

Or would it be better to go MCD 4.2->MCD6.0->MCD8.0

Also does the mitel need a passive FTP server?  It's been years since I have upgraded a controller using FTP.

Reach upgrade should take around 1.5 hours?  Or the AX controllers slower.

thanks
Kal.
I have done a lot of these... your plan is reasonable to upgrade in steps, I have seen too large a jump cause issues with phones taking firmware (it shouldn't, but I have seen it).

The modern versions of Mitel Software Installer do not require a stand-alone FTP server, it can handle it within the application. That said, I often use an ftp server on laptop just out of habit.

And the upgrade could take 1.5 hours, but 50-75 minutes on an AX is more common... Remember in the AX it doesn't install help files on the controller itself, so that kind of compensates for the slower system.

If it says that option is not valid, you are not logging in at the installer level... Verify you have the correct password and try again.

Otherwise, those cards are impossible to get support for.

74
Only at the trunk level... Go to the trunk group programming at look for "Propagate Original Caller ID" and set that to Yes... Note that some carriers, especially with the proliferation of Stir/Shaken, will not allow you to send a Caller ID for a phone number you don't own. So it might not work, make sure you test it... Some carriers will override the presented Caller ID with the main billing TN, others will block the call entirely.

What is "66"? Is it a paging port, a 5845 paging adapter, and Algo/Viking SIP unit, or something else?
